Why by the way would you favor Chad over Calzaghe? Ive only seen him fight a few times but I admit he looks very good. But this reminds me a bit of Lacy. After Joe beat him it was like ... he was never good... only had 21 fights...Then we have Chad with 25 fights and 3 defences of the WBC. Then theres Calzaghe undefeated over 10 years , over 20 defenses, and in his last bout Beat Kessler and now holds the WBO,WBC and WBA.

Chad has alot going for him but his stamina seemed a bit suspect to me against Adamek, and was almost koed and needed over a round to get his legs back. He is very slick with good movement...and Calzaghe isn`t?

Wht do you think Chad brings to the fight that Calzaghe won`t be able to handle? Example... hes a bit taller and has 3 inch or so reach advantage. But you think Cal won`t be able to make adjustments to that?

Just asking here, since every time Cal goes ahead and kicks ass on peeps he is supposed to lose to all of a sudden his standings with alot of people, instead of getting better gets worse. It blows my mind.

Moving up or down isnt a 'qualification for greatness'. However unless Calzaghe does it, its hard to say he's great because he's never faced a very high level of competition.

Hagler didn't have to move up or down because there was great competition, hell some of it even moved up just to fight HIM.

And what is this BS about Kessler? Wow he couldn't adjust to Calzaghe's style, thats a surprise. Calzaghe's style is very difficult to figure out. Southpaws are hard enough by themselves, but when they're named Joe Calzaghe, its even worse!

And Kessler DID make adjustments to what Calzaghe was doing! Was he able to adjust his entire fight plan?? No. He wasn't. But he did lots of subtle, 'you wouldn't notice this unless you have boxed' kind of stuff. The way he was able to counter Joe and catch him was very impressive to me. Calzaghe does leave himself open sometimes when he comes in, but because he throws from such strange angles, its hard to catch counter him FLUSH when he does it. Kessler could do this!

Also Kessler was brilliant at creating room for his punches, and knowing when he had the range to throw punches. He was able to throw and land 1-2 cominations at very odd ranges, with only a small amount of space between him and Calzaghe. Very hard to do.

Bout Changed To No Contest Due To Dawson Failing Post Fight Drug Test.

Was it a supplement thing or did he have problems in the past with a drug of some kind?

Not digging this up to take away from him , since I do feel he is a good fighter I`m just curious.

Happens to the best of us. **** I can`t imagine smoking pot and fighting. When I smoked back in the day my tolerance was ****. One time I got high with a few friends and was watching a movie when one of them yelled my name real loud and slapped me on the back. I went to ask what the **** but had no air. I had been sitting there for over a min and a 1/2 not breathing lol. Weed for whatever reason always ****ed me up bad. All my friends would get calm and relaxed. I was one of 2 things. Just hyper and bugged out like i drank 8 pots of coffee or the opposite where i would forget to breathe or just lay there literally not being able to think or function. My escapades with pot were brief to say the least.

Monzon's comp was not exactly considered scintillating either, at the time.

     . Classic!!! After the first 10 minutes of fun I would get get paranoid, always see buzzard's (California Condors) fly overhead if I was outside thinking they were after me, and everytime I looked @ a digital clock the minutes would always be on 13, like 2:13, 6:13 etc. Weird ****.

Briscoe, Benvenuti, Napoles, Valdez, Griffith, Licata, Mundine, Bogs, and Licata. Seems like a pretty formidable list.

Also, can you ever see Monzon losing to the likes of Jermain Taylor?!

Hopkins really said that? Not doubting you but that's surprising coming from Hopkins, even if he believes it. Can you elaborate on what Hopkins said?

Heh, too funny. The best time I had was my 1st. I was in High school and my buddy and I had just raided the ashtray of his pothead cousins
bronco. We were smokin the **** and I was all ****ed up. My hearing was funny and everything he said sounded like the adults on the charlie brown cartoon. We were eating ritz *******s and I laughed so hard crumbs shot out and the **** was in slow motion. Then his mother pounded on the door and told us to shut up and killed the buzz

    *****:fy

Ever since that time they all were shitty, so I stuck with getting drunk heh. Some good stories on that but yall aren`t old enough yet and this isn`t the place....

Here's the full quote from Bernard Hopkins regarding how he would match up against Monzon, Robinson, or Hagler.

"Sugar Ray Robinson at 147 pounds was close to perfect," Hopkins posits. "But at middleweight, he was beatable. I would have fought Ray Robinson in close and not given him room to do his thing. He’d make me pay a physical price. But at middleweight, I think I’d wear him down and win. Me and Marvin Hagler would have been a war. We’d both be in the hospital afterward with straws in our mouth. We’d destroy each other. I wouldn’t run from Marvin. My game-plan would be, rough him up, box, rough him up, box. You wouldn’t use judges for that fight. You’d go by the doctors’ reports. Whichever one of us is damaged less gets the win. Carlos Monzon? I could lose that fight. Monzon was tall, rangy, did everything right. I see myself losing that fight more than winning it. I ain’t saying I’m number one, but I’m one of the best middleweights of all time. My legacy is what it is. If you want to be great, then beat Bernard Hopkins."

Thanks, that's very candid, "staws in our mouth". Great line. Anyone who doubts Monzon should read this quote

pot leaves traces in ur bloodstream for long after you're no longer high. It doesn't mean Chad Dawson smoked before the fight
