I dont think theres any shame in ducking Roy Jones until he was shit2shot. Wouldnt you? Especially if you were a holder of the smallest, most worthless title at SMW, you wouldnt feel confident of fighting a superstar who wins everything at multiple weights? You'd run like fcuk. Look at what Joe did do, rather than didnt, and give him credit for massively overacheiving for a minor title holder. Joe preferred to look after himself than takethe tough fights, he was a smart guy who knew boxing can ruin your health if you arent built with a granite chin, and he wanted to avoid that.
Damn, Bailey and headbanger are nowhere to be seen. Zod is the most unbiased perspective on the RJJ issue.
Very damning quote by Calzaghe saying he didn't want tough fights, just big money. Still, it's clear from his CV that was always the case.
It was well known in boxing that the risk of fighting Calzaghe was great for any top fighter, as the chances of Calzaghe winning was great.

Actually... In honor of our ATG wars back in the day, I am gonna withdraw from the debate too...:rofl If someone says something i absolutely cant stand, then maybe I will jump in..:yep:bbb
Hi mate, I agree with everything you've said. I don't blame him for doing any of that, but the thing is, he likes to play the victim, telling everyone that he chased Roy for 5 or 6 years, and he was desperate for the fight, but Roy avoided him etc. He's lied all through his career to protect his ego. Apparently he wanted the big fights, but he couldn't get any of them. What exactly did he do to get a big fight? He didn't move up to 175 or fight in the U.S. til he was 36 in 2008. He wanted the crown Jewls to fight Roy. Fair enough, I would have wanted them. But who was going to pay him the crown jewels in 2002, when he was still relatively unknown outside of europe at the time? I can't wait for Bailey to come on here! I exposed Joe's lies, on a thread a few days ago, and apparently I was just splitting hairs ha! Regards, Loudon.
Zod, This thread is too good! It's the equivalent of Roy vs Griffin II. I hope we get loads of pages, but I can't see it. You've included too much evidence ha! Bailey's not going to come on here and try and defend that, it'd be impossible. Regards, Loudon.
well fair enough, boxers often do have huge egos. I think Bailey has done a Calzaghe-style runner now tbh, though I am sure he will, in that Baileyway, be calling out over his shoulder that he schooled you whilst he scampers away behind a cut and pasting of a HUGE post of irrelevancies.
