err...Sugar Joe's comments on fighting Jones for big money/crown jewels etc are common knowledge. Don't pretend like this is any kind of discovery.

They were a rare moment of brutal honesty amongst a bunch of over-paid, overrated frauds, cheats, egomaniacs, liars, cons, and chumps - which should be applauded forever.

    :lol::patsch

Spot on, these quotes are so old. Listen to these giddy fanboys acting as though they struck gold. It's as if they don't appreciate that people change, and what someone said in 1999 may be different to how they feel in 2002 or 2003. Listen to this,

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk0OtpZ90hU[/ame]

Quote from Jones in 2008 where he states' I wanted to fight Joe, and he wanted to fight me for many years, but promoters stood in the way.'

Those words are straight from Roy Jones himself

Then we have the quotes from Joe himself in the newspapers saying he chased Roy for years, and we have the video after the Mcintyre fight where he calls Roy Jones out on the Tyson-Nielson undercard (A Mike Tyson fight where America would have been watching).

Finally, for those who keep on rehashing the 'I don't want tough fights line', after this, Joe took fights with Mitchell, Reid, Brewer, Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins. Those certainly weren't easy fights!

This is just going to go round in circles

Calzaghe's noteworthy wins: 44 year old Hopkins, 39 year old RJJ(past it for 5+ years), Kessler(we can see how far he got in the supersix and how quick he ran out of it too) and Lacy.

If this is a career worth bragging about, then you need help.

In 1999 he said he did not want the fight and in 2003 he said unless he gets paid the crown jewels then he didn't want to risk it. I think we can safely say that that doesn't sound like a guy chasing a big fight.
He said people stood in the way. What people was Jones referring to?
Jones has always been his own man and has been self managed through out his whole career. Most of his fights post Harding (2000) were promoted by his own company Square Ring.

We know Waarren approached him with a offer in 2006 when Jones was 0-3 , we have no evidence that Waarren ever made a serious offer to him before that.
Joe is on record lying about a number of things:

1: In 1999 he said he wanted to fight Jones than he admits he never wanted the fight

2: He said he couldn't fight in America due to his fear of flying. A fear which magically disappeared when he went to fight Hopkins

3: He said he wanted the big fights, but he refused to:
    -Go to America
    -Promote his fights in America
-Move up to a deeper division

4: Stated numerous times that Jones was shot, but then claimed he was relevant again in 2008

5: Pulled out of the Pavlik fight claiming that Pavlik turned him down years ago when Pavlik would of been nothing more than a mw prospect

6: Never mentions the fact that HBO gave him a opportunity to fight Jones back in 1999

How many more lies does he have to say before it occurs to you he might not be the most trustworthy source?

    Go to 19:20

Two weeks before the fight Calzaghe claimed he was injured and that he had to pull out. Waarren would tell him if you pull out of this fight your career is finished.

If you are faking injuries in an attempt to get out of fighting Jeff Lacy, then I think I can safely say that you don't have enough self belief to take on a fighter better than Lacy.

wow, credit dude, you might be the first person to actually make bailey understand that he is wrong, rather than simply him being wrong but believing he is right.

    Zod,

Nobody can argue against the evidence you have provided. But even without all the great quotes and links you've posted, if you just sit back and think it about it logically, you would have known he was talking BS.

It's as simple as this, don't look at what he said, look at what he did.

Bailey and other posters, constantly post videos up of Joe making all of these claims, but look at what he did or didn't do.

He says he chased Roy, but like you say, and like I've been saying for a long time, he didn't fight in Roy's country or his weight class until 2008, how is that chasing a fight?

But the biggest thing to consider, is him trying to pull out of the Lacy fight. If he tried to pull out of that fight, are we supposed to believe that he wanted a peak version of Roy? It's absolutely laughable! The guys a complete joker!

I see Bailey can't face the heat, so as always, when things get tough, he runs to another thread. He's now debating on Ward vs Calzaghe. Ha! Somebody tell him he's got unfinished business on here.

    Zod you're a legend!

    Regards, Loudon.
