@ Mind Reader, you can consider Calzaghe LHW champ because he beat the number 1 LHW in the world. Jones was just handed the Ring Magazine title without actually fighting the next best LHW and true champ DM

And If you are gonna consider Dariuz the "true" champ, then you cant call Calzaghe the Champ, he never beat Erdei.

No, you're getting caught up in the lineage, that wasn't relevant to my post. I said Calzaghe beat the number 1 LHW on the planet (Hopkins), Jones didn't beat the next best LHW - Those are facts.

Darius was champ because he beat Hill after Hill beat Maske. Then Jones established himself as the number 1 LHW when Darius aged and declined and started losing to the likes of Gonzalez. Jones was the champ when he beat Tarver, I agree with that, then he got stopped brutally in the rematch, and got beaten decisively in the rubber match of the trilogy, which proved that Tarver was the better man.

I don't understand your final question, what is that in reference to?

 

My final question, has do do with Hopkins being the #1 Lhw on the planet... Who ranked him, and who ranked Jones as #1 when DM declined?

 

This also gets overlooked because Roy lost against Tarver in his next fight..

How many fighters past and current can you name, that dropped down from HW, and beat the #1 LHW in their very next fight???

History shows, that is hard to do, not many have success with that...

In my book it is more impressive than Joe edging Hopkins, or anything DM has done at LHW.
