Hopkins and Jones are both legends, though Hopkins was very sore in his close decision loss. I can see why Calzaghe would say such things.

I think Calzaghe is being a bit defensive because he didn't do what he predicted he would do which is dominate. Look at his demeanor after the fight, he doesn't seem thrilled like he was against Kessler where he did put on a great performance. He acts like he lost. So by him giving Hopkins too much credit, it will take away from the fact that he got the decision. A lot of media people still think Hopkins won.

Guys like Lacy and Kessler huh? If he beats em the excuses would be coming thick and fast.

Hopkins is no doubt a legend, he needs to move on. As does Joe.

How about Kessler vs Pavlik and Dawson vs Taylor. Then those two get it on to fight the winner of Calzaghe and Jones. Somes times its about the money my man, HBO wants it, smoochp wants it, so lets have Jones vs Calzaghe. It makes since buisness wise and it can be a great retiremnet fight for both fighters. Even though I want to see Jones vs Johnson again. Plus Arum doesn't want to move Pavlik up yet, he already is in negotioans on his next fight, then to unify against Abrham since Sturm doesn't want none

Hopkins lost the fight when he gassed out in the 10th round and
decided to ***** out and fake lowblows to get a rest rather than
fight off the hard charging Calzaghe. Whining and crying to and actually circling behind Cortez to avoid Joe's flurries late in the
fight. Absolutely disgraceful. A few media types favored Hopkins
but the vast majority of experience judges, boxers and writers
saw a clear victory for Joe. Joe's a proud guy and is just legitimately
disgusted by Hopkins unsportsmanlike post-fight pouty behavior.
Joe and Roy are grown men and will act as such during the lead
up to their inevitable showdown. Don't count Roy out. Speed kills.

Joe has high standards because Bernard is the 2nd greatest fighter between 160-175 over the last 20 years. Only behind Roy himelf.

you're wrong. Calzaghe said before the fight that Hopkins was not a legend, and that it would be an ugly fight. Its true that is disappointed that he didn't dominate, but he expected it to be an ugly fight.

Also Calzaghe is pissed that Hopkins showed no class in defeat.

With Toney 3rd, and Calzaghe coming in at 4; hence why I previously asked what Joe thought of himself.

The disparity between Jones and Hopkins is a bit bigger, imo. Hopkins and Toney are close to each other, in the middle. Then Calzaghe follows, down where you have him.

Speaking of legends; if you really want to asses joe's standing at LHW, consider what Spinks or Foster would do to the guy who squeaked out a controversial split decsion over a 43 year old career middleweight last saturday night.
