This is why Setanta should be applauded. Sky would never think of doing this stuff, the stupid *******s.

This is sort of gig they used to put on in 70's, 80's and early 90's.

8 years of talks....hahahaha get the **** out of here Bunce....

    Jesus Bunce talks some ****!!!

In the year 2000 Calzaghe was defending his WBO belt against people in the top 50 rankings............it wasn't until..... 2006 when he actually attempted to unify ANYTHING and take a step up in class with Lacy (That I respect him for) but that is 9 years with the LIGHTLY regarded WBO belt...Regardless of the trash he come out with on TV its not a major belt!!!!!

Roy Jones however was picking belts up for fun and fighting TITLEHOLDERS in the light heavyweight division and held in 2000 the wbc, wba, ibf, ibo titles.

For these reasons i do not believe in Hell that the talks would have been going on in 2000 for Joe Vs Roy.....To be honest I couldnt see any REAL interest from either side untill after Roy Vs Tarver 1

Damm Bunce is ****ing up again!!!
(p.s if you read this....loving the show.....highly comical)

    He should be called Dunce!

Sept 2000 - Calzaghe and Jones talk. Fact. Now...I make that 8 years. Have a look at some of guys Jones beat at that time. Jones was not doing any business.
You was a milk monitor in primary school at the time!
    Trust me on this one.
If I get Hopkins on this week there will be more comedy.

    Adios.

I was 19 years old at the time.

Jones was fighting one of his toughestn fights against that guy who pulled his arm muscles and had to be stopped.

Jones had bigger fights in 1998 / 1999

Lou De Valle and Reggie Johnson

Bunce, there conversation went like this

Joe: Hi Roy, I would like to fight you...I am the WBO SMW Champion
    RJJ: WHO!?
Joe: You know the welsh guy?
    RJJ: Who!?
    Joe: Joe Calzaghe...
RJJ: Oh This is a joke yeah...Bye....

Bunce, Please on Thursday get Jones to say he was in serious talks in 2000 and I will shut up ok?????

    Cheers

Because do not believe for one second that in September 2000 that Jones & Calzaghe were in serious talks......Its crazy to think FRANK WARREN would put him anywhere near RJJ in 2000

PS. Even give it to Roy as a question from me?

Dirty from Hong Kong is my Name!

    Peace

Jones should have brushed up on his boxing knowledge then, it was "Darius who?" when that fight was mentioned as well.

I agree, both liked fighting "at home" and were making decent money doing it. Its probably got a lot to do with why Calzaghe and Jones never fought as well TBH. Neither fighter really "needed" the other.

Talks could be from my mock telephone conversation!!!!
(Which i do not consider to be REAL talks)

Serious talks is anything that involves an actual match-up that both are willing to listen too

but if you think Frank Warren will put Calzaghe near Jones in 2000 your all ****ing mad!!

    Mad I tell you!!!!!
