About 190k. I think it's fair to at least partly blame the economy, because Hopkins/Wright looked a far more boring fight on paper did over 300k in the middle of last year, before **** hit the fan.
Barely 200K if even that much. Rafael said 190s. Pavlik has been proven to be a non-PPV draw between this and his 220K performance against Hopkins. You'd think all these general PPV flops, boxing would move AWAY from PPV but what do I know.
While the economy is going to hurt some of the PPV sales, it isnt responsible for all of them. Its obvious many people werent interested in the fight. Lets see how many people go and buy Pac-DLH and tell me it is still the economy when it does triple what this fight did. edit. maybe it will do better than triple who knows. As much of a joke as the matchup is, they are both huge draws, so who knows but I think it will still do very well.
Manny's 24/7 will be ****ing awesome. He's come from the mean streets, he's shadowboxed in glass to come to where he is. It will do more than 900k without a doubt. In fact, I'll be surprised if it does less than 1m.
Agree with bold, to a degree, but if Pac-DLH only does triple what Joe-Roy did then that pretty much confirms that it IS the economy.
Tito was the fan favorite at MSG that night (at least early on). I think the fact that the event was in Jan and some people who got Christmas money were a lil more spendy.
I'd give credence to that if Hatton wasn't involved in a 900K buy PPV fight...and if the two biggest drawing PPVs in the US this year weren't by four hispanic fighters.
Good point about Xmas; hadn't thought of that. I don't know if you can tell how big a national PPV draw Tito is by whether he is a fan favorite at MSG though; he will ALWAYS be a fan favorite in MSG cause of NYC's PR population.
