He's a big time draw on the East Coast and the numbers are starting to show how big of a PPV draw he is/can be.

Remember him and Oscar did ridiculous #s, not to mention him and RJ (Two shot fighters, one 10 past his natural weight) did 500K.

If that was the case you think every hood would've been buying the PPV to watch Hopkins and RJJ.

I still chalk this up to Calzaghe not being a draw then the economy THEN some sort of racial bias kind of stuff.

Boxing is on the downside in America, period.
Look in Germany, where 5.8m people turn on their TV sets to watch Abraham, or in England, where 70k comes to support Joe Calzaghe.

    True.

Just to clarify; I don't think the economy is the ONLY reason that ppl didn't buy Joe-Roy, but it certainly made it a lot less attractive to people, esp. the casual fan.

Possibly. I'm not sure what's the case with Pavlik. I think he's just not a PPV draw seeing as how Taylor and Pavlik I was the highest rated HBO WCB fight in 07. I think Pavlik is certainly marketable in a big fight but people aren't going to pay PPV money to watch him.

I think Calzaghe has a myriad of problems..skin color being the last of them.

Most Americans couldn`t afford the PPV as their trailers are being repossessed.

Those numbers are decent in terms of revenue. It is not a decent number for these two high quality fighters. If the numbers are true, they made a little profit. The promotors didn't make a big profit, but the fighters made their money. People got a bad taste in their mouth when cal struggled but beat Hopkins. Tito and Roy did $500,000 buys. America Knows Roy, they just doesn't know Calzaghe. Quick question. How many of you ever watched the cartoon Fangface? lol

His style, his attitude and arrogance (nobody likes an arrogant guy who to their knowledge hasn't backed it up), the fact that there were more ATTRACTIVE fights out there for him match up wise and his inability to transcend nationalities are much more brutal than his skin color IMO.

Weren't RJJ and Calzaghe the promoters?

And I think the 2nd bolded item pretty much nailed it.

The UFC is doing a ppv that theyve predicted will do 1 million buys this weekend.

I dont think they will touch that.. we'll see.

Cotto V Margo did well didn't it, so did Mayweather V Hatton - what's the difference between those and this fight?

The economy probably has something to do with it as well.
