I believe 500K or something along those lines were tossed around.

That's the saddest thing about it. His style is pretty fan friendly when you look at the big picture of things- certainly moreso than Roy's has been for years now. Then again, so is Pavlik's, and he can't sell **** either. Kelly's also ****ed because he needed to at least show up vs Hopkins because there's still a philosophy that white fighters aren't as good here. And the funny thing? More white people than blacks or mexicans (don't know any asians or puerto ricans) I know have bought into that and feel that way. I can't explain why that is, but it's pretty ****ed up.

something else noone has yet mentioned is the availability of streams on the internet to watch to the fights as well.

Is the 225k quoted the US number or global btw?

It will definitely do over 400... the ufc average is like 400k.. and Couture vs Lesnar is a big fight.

I think it will do well below a million though..

I'm actually happy about this, Im ****ing tired of all this LAME matchups that are being made! Why the fuk was Jones fighting for a belt when he hasn't done **** for years in the first place. On top of that they make this BS a PPV with a **** undercard.
I just hope this makes HBO to push for better matchups and to stop making every dam fight a PPV.

look man people are going to wall and things like PPV sport event go out the window, the number these thing do are going to go south in a big way, it doesn't matter what it is MMA,boxing or what ever, just look at jones fight in jan this year it did 500 000 and then this one does 230 000, if it was the same economic time like jan this year it would have done 350 000 to 400 000 and things bite with people having no job and losing money hand over fist, these thing are going to go south, PPV number will be down alot in the next 2 years.

Wow... Fariweather American sports fans have been very hard on Calzaghe. All his shows here have been bad busts.

Calzaghe does not have the style to catch people in the USA's attention. We are not used to the way he throws punches and it reminds everybody of how girls fight. He throws side armed punches. He kind of became a joke after the Bhop fight for those that never seen him beat guys like Lacy/Kessler etc. He was far less slap happy. But Manfredo, Baika, Bhop....all ***** wind milling. He just has an ugly ass style, same as those that think Mayweather had an unattractive style pot shotting etc etc.

I tried to tell the Jones nuthuggers that the ticket sales were a joke (only sold 9,200 out of 20,000) and that the PPV buys would be low but they still tried to say Roy was a big draw. They did not listen. :-(
