    Are those #s correct?

    Very very low indeed.

I'd say the low sales are from a number of factors.

    1. JC just isn't a draw here in America.

    2. The match-up had little appeal.

    3. The economy certainly didn't help.

    4. The undercard sucked ****.

I'm not surprised by low #s.

But this is much lower than expected.

You prefer Hopkins 6 punches a round all out action. Why would you want to watch JC when you can see that sort of stuff. I now see why he`s revered over there.

Skin colour probably not but montero has a decent point, if calzaghe was irish and not welsh for instance i think the fight would have done far better numbers. There are other reasons why tit didn't and perhaps bigger ones but there is some truth in what he is saying

Dont underestimate the state of the economy.

I expect the next Hatton ppv to be a bit of flop next week tbh...

    How much ppl bought Hopkins-Pavlik??
IN LV there were no Hopkins-fans, same in NY.
SO i guess Hopkins and Jones are not big name netiher.
Boxing in the US is dying. Look at the last DLH-fight on HBO regular. He only had arround 2M viewers, Calzaghe-Kessler ~1,6M. SO the difference isn't that big. (also the Margarito/Cotto-doubleheader did only 1,2 oer something like that).
Europe is the biggest market in boxing!!

It's sad to see how far Roy's marketability has fallen. That's what two KO's/TKO's can do to you.

No one knows Joe in the US, even now. They're starting to get to know him, but they don't know him.

Roy is the known American quantity in this fight, and it looks like between the tanking economy and his tarnished luster the PPV buys just weren't there.

The saving grace for the Roy fans is that though their guy may no longer be a real draw, fewer people apparently tuned in to see Roy get shut out and clowned, Jones-style, after the first round.

Glad to see the low PPV numbers. This was a BS fight anyways, people didnt buy into the Calzaghe hype. Jones hasnt done anything in the last 5 years but get brutally knocked out twice. This fight was meaningless at this stage of Roys career and fans realized that Calzaghe was cherry picking.

Once again, RJJ-Tito did 500K in Jan...so there's definitely some outwards appeal for RJ Roy Jones Pig Raisin Turtle Raisin.

I've said this before, but one huge difference between the UFC and Boxing is the overall quality of the card. The undercards on the recent Hopkins-Pavlik and Jones-Calzaghe fight were an absolute joke. With a UFC PPV, you normally get one big main event and one other main event quality fight, plus four or five other fights. Boxing comes nowhere close to matching this. I am a diehard boxing fan and I couldn't stomach most of the Jones-Calzaghe undercard. Now, imagine Jones-Calzaghe and Pavlik-Hopkins on the same card. Essentially, that is what the UFC does, and unless boxing changes the overall quality of all the fights on their PPV, UFC will continue to outdraw boxing.
