It's going to be a great couple of weeks for British boxing. Joe-RJJ on the 8th of November, Haye's fight is scheduled for the week after on the 15th and the week after that it's Hatton-Paulie.
When I went to Lewis-Holy at MSG it was a lot cheaper to get the tickets straight from MSG (that was a loooong time ago though).
If setanta offer him more money than sky can generate. they did it for Castillo. Dont expect setanta to offer 1 month subscription for November either, 12 month only.
Do you remember what you paid for that? These are the prices I have seen for tickets so far. :yikes http://www.theonlineticketshop.com/...-garden-saturday-november-08-2008-tickets.htm The L.V. Hatton / Malignaggi tickets are nowhere near these prices.
Christ thats expensive!!!! The tickets for the Lewis fight were around 150 quid IIRC but that was 10+ years ago. I don't remember thinking they were expensive at the time though, unlike those tickets you've linked to.
Well they have obviously managed to offer Calzaghe more money than Sky so maybe Setanta will get Hatton-Pauli. I think both fights are hard sells as PPVs TBH.
I had to get Setanta for 3 months for Hatton-JLC, I was going to cancel after that but havn't bothered. Sure they have quiet months where boxing is concerned but generally they are pretty good and the UFC/ Liverpool TV is a bonus for me.
See, they've got these mixed up One fight features Joe 'Legend Killer' Calzaghe who is now an 'Actual Legend' vs Roy Jones who is also an 'Actual Legend' The other features a Wrestler and Anderson from Manchester United with pillows on his fists Which should be PPV? :think
Neither IMHO. One is a fight in between the top two fighters in a poor division and the other is a retirement fight. Fenech vs Nelson 3 was 'Actual Legends' fighting each other but I wouldn't pay to see that. One thing determines whether a fight should be PPV and thats whether people will pay extra to watch it. Thats all.
True, but from a boxing viewpoint one of these legitimately stands up as a PPV Retirement - so what? One is still the best in two divisions and probably the p4p #1, the other is a tiny bit past his best but coming off a win and also bringing the intrigue that he might just turn back the clock The other is still Anderson from Manchester United who is supposed to be at the Olympics, and a part-time after dinner speaker/dart player/wrestler
I'm pissed and I can still see thats a poor wind up attempt!!! The JC-RJJ summary was pretty good, except that Jones is a bit more than a 'tiny bit past' his best and the win he's coming is to a smaller, equally shot Trinidad. Neither fight is legitimately a PPV fight, but its up to the individual was to whether he buys either fight.
I'm not winding you up, this is the problem. Once you do one WUM its like crying wolf. I would happily pay 10,000 kr to watch 2 legends going to battle, like Joe Calzaghe and RJJ This is not the case with Anderson Abreu and Ricky. What is it, an IBO and IBF unification? :-( Bet we'll get some bollocks like Matthew Hatton on the undercard too
Forget about the BS 'unification' thing for the Hatton fight, its the top 2 ranked light welters in the world fighting. The titles (or lack thereof) don't matter, its still not a PPV fight though. Even when they were in their primes neither Jones or Calzaghe have ever been popular enough to be involved in a PPV fight in the UK. Theres no way they are going to be PPV now one of them is on the slide and the other is shot to bits. I'm interested in both fights but neither really sets the boxing world on fire.
No, sadly its because he's the only one who can sell. Do you think that if Calzaghe could have got more money on PPV (in his pure money fight) he would have turned it down for the fans (to go on a cheaper subscription channel), and that he is only on Setanta for the fans? WTF, where do they pull them out from.
