"I beat Kessler to become undisputed [super middleweight] champion and I've beat Hopkins now, so I feel like I've achieved more in my last two fights than I did over the previous 10 years," he said. "I've done it all in 25 years of boxing; now, I'm going to cash it in."

Calzaghe vs Roy Jones - Millennium Stadium or Wembley then retire. Mark my words.

I think he should also fight Pavlik. Should be a good battle

This was expected. He's no different then anyone else who's ever been a prize fighter.

Sad day for boxing purists, but can't say I blame Calzaghe.

Facing someone like Dawson would be asking too much.

I get the impression that RJJ is not exactly in the strongest of negotiating positions: Calzaghe has many options, RJJ doesn't really. If all Calzaghe is willing to offer is one fight, Roy will have to accept or leave it alone.

It's the fight HBO and the money men, judg....errr:hey , wanted pre Hopkins fight.

You cant blame Joe for cashing in I suppose. It would be a good send off in Cardiff as well and perhaps present less of a risk then a more live opponent.

At the end of the day beating a washed up Tyson did wonders, with time, for Lewis's resume.

A lot of people on here cleary believe that after beating 43 year old Hopkins it means Calzaghe would beat a prime Hopkins as well. Their views would be exactly the same for a washed up RJJ. Its a big name smash and grab for Joe.

It may not be the purists fight, but it would be a great send off entertainment wise.

I beg to differ, RJJ has a BIGGER NAME than anyone, INCLUDING bhop, that is on JC's resume. Therefore giving him plenty of leverage. Calz wants RJJ on his resume to fill it out with fluff accomplishments by beating past prime fighters that he knows he couldn't beat 7-10 years ago. JC has been saved from the 'tough' fights his whole career until about 2-3 yrs ago. This is the reason why he has so much left at his age. ATG?

***I will see if Calz fanboys come to defend him:stir

I think Pavlik might be a bigger draw in US.

That is a bold opinion...RJJ is internationally known as a boxing superstar.. Pavlik is fledgling... KO artist, maybe...but surely not on the same level as RJJ.

Yep. I just hope Jones has 50% left in the tank, because if he does then this will come back to bite Calslappy on the arse, he'll get KTFO. Hopkins showed us all that his chin is vastly over-rated. Having a poor chin is a bad thing against Jones :yep

Its a real shame that Joes career as regards to possible intriguing opponents is just starting to get really interesting but its his last fight.

It wasn't his chin that cost him the knockdown.
