hopefully not like lacy did. calzaghe is the sort of guy that gets in the zone and all he sees is his opponent.
Calzaghe is used to it and Kessler went to Australia to fight Mundine and it didn't seem to bother him so the crowd shouldn't have an effect.
"Calzaghe is used to it....". I thought the crowd for this fight was supposed to be uprecedented??? Also I heard some say that Kessler did show sign of being affected by the crowd in Australia. It would be nice to hear from people who saw the Mundine-Kessler fight live.
in regards to the noise and aggressive nature of the crowd, then yes he is used to it, check out the lacy fight, that is one intense crowd. he has fought at the millenium stadium before as well in front of 30,000+ fans so it's nothing new to him fighting in front of huge crowds.
I wish I had the time from work and the means to travel over there and check it out first hand. But atleast HBO stepped up for this one and atleast can watch it live (even though the whole time slot deal is screwy for you guys).
Calzaghe will thrive off the big fight atmosphere - he's proven that more than once. Kessler is more unproven in this area - less big fight experience. And obviously the crowd will be largely pro Calzaghe. Kessler may take a few rounds to get in to the fight, and this could be the difference between winning and losing.
Yeah, this thing keeps poping up in my analysis too. I think JC might try with an immediate assault to try an win the first couple of rounds. Being ahead he can more easily settle into his style of boxing, which most here (IMO) believe is vital to a top JC performance. I'd suggest Kessler remembers to warm up properly .
