No need for a rematch. Kessler can't win unless he changes his game. He needs to become more polished with his shots. Calzaghe was picking flaws none stop from the 5th onwards.

Kessler can come back and be a somebody. His best route may be to start with the IBF and go for Bute. Bute is a poor mans Calzaghe so starting there would be great.

Beating a fat Wright well above his peak weightmeans nothing.

Beating the Tarver is a very good win, but so is annihilating Lacy and beating Kessler

It would be great if Joe would go over to Denmark and give Kessler a rematch. I thought it was a close fight and home advantage might be what won it for Joe. I'd love to see if he could win in Denmark too.

I'd rather see him fight Kessler again than beat up an old man.

Bring Calzaghe to Copenhagen Stadiums 35.000 screaming fans. Let's have the rematch like is normal in boxing. Only then do we have a "truly" fair basis on which to judge the two fighters against each other. JC won in Wales, clean shots or not. Can he do it in Copenhagen????

Like so many others on this board I've been looking for interesting match-ups and find it hard to find a better and more competitive fight than JC-MK2 at the moment, given that you like to watch a mixture of loads of hard punches, great footwork and tactical offensive and defensive skills . Is HBO really the only company capable of making this happen?

No, my fellow countryman, it's not even close.

Either of Kessler or Calzaghe could beat all three (Winky, Bernard and Tarver)

Bernard WAS a great MIDDLEWT. He's now past it.

His victory over Tarver was a good one but Tarver had ONE main claim to fame. Being in the right place when the great RJJ reached the end of the line. (Sort of like Leon Spinks claim to fame at the expense of a past-it Ali)

Other than that, Tarver was a journeyman. He split a series with Glenn Johnson. Good win for Bernard, but keep it in perspective.

    Winky?
A lot of good fights at 154 with only two blemishes, including a loss to Vargas.

But at 160, only three wins, two of them against welterwts.
Above 160 ? Zero success whatsoever.

Beating a one shot wonder like Tarver and a super welter, jumped up to 170, is not even close to Joe's level.

Joe's been there, done that and got the TEE-shirt.

I'd certainly rather watch Calzaghe -Kessler 2, than Calzaghe - Hopkins, but I don't really want either one.

Time is running out for Joe. I would like to see him fight Dawson and the winner of Pavlik/Taylor.

A rematch would be a pretty bad move for Calzaghe, and frankly, Kessler has a lot to gain by Calzaghe moving on and fighting high profile names as well. Calzaghe should be able to clean house of the older big name fighters in LHW (all of whom would make him more money than a Kessler rematch, and all of whom would have a greater effect on his legacy), and a few years down the road Kessler should get another big fight against the next up-and-comer (maybe Pavlik?) who will want to prove themself against Calzaghe's benchmark.

In any case, the first fight was definitive, and there's no need for a rematch. Kessler just doesn't have the stamina to carry out the game plan the first poster mentioned.

    Bodysnathcher.
First of: From where do you get your definition of "normal". Based on what fights?? :huh

Then: What fights out there are more interesting??:huh

Don't you really think it would be fair to give MK the home advantage, with all that comes with it, including the pressure from the homecrowd on MK to win, if you were to judge in all fairness the relative strength of the two fighters?
I ask because I just feel at times that some Calzaghe fans don't want to see Calzaghe in Copenhagen. And that I really don't get because I know the danes had a great time in Wales. Why couldn't the Welsh have an equally good time in Copenhagen? Perhaps now even with better odds on their man than MK had in Wales. I think it could be a blast with HBO chipping in!

Also, Warren does not entirely rule out a rematch......so....... .

As many have said. Old Bag Hopkins is doing nothing for JCs resume. Perhaps if JCs dad fought BHOP it might be something for the Calzaghe family.:smoke

Maybe not! But Kessler, I believe, still have the punching power to take Calzaghe with the right punch. He failed to land his best shot in the fight. I refuse, like some stubborn mullah, to believe JC can escape another fight against MK without being shot seriously.:smooch We saw in Wales that JC had to be at his best and unsually disciplined to avoid the *******s MK sent him.

  15. JC would never fight Kesseler again what the hell for:huh he beat the **** out of him, too 1 sided for a rematch, Hopkins would be a tougher match anyway's due to his experience and the quality of opposition he has faced..
    Hopkins-Calzaghe- VEGAS SOMETIME IN 2008:good
