http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/boxing/7098631.stm Joe Calzaghe says he is not interested in fighting Carl Froch Undisputed world super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe has laughed off talk of a fight with Carl Froch. Undefeated Nottingham man Froch, 30, is up for a final eliminator for Calzaghe's newly won WBC crown. Froch will face Russia's Denis Inkin in a title eliminator and believes a unification battle with Calzaghe is the fight that all Britain wants to see. But Newbridge's Calzaghe described the prospect of an Anglo-Welsh clash against Froch as a "joke". With my stock as high as it's ever been, it's a joke to think I'd fight Froch Joe Calzaghe Speaking after his victory over Robin Reid, Froch said: "I would like to think Joe will still be there when I get past Inkin. "But he's talking about fighting Hopkins up at light-heavyweight now. "For the moment, I want to keep that dream fight alive." However, Calzaghe, writing in his column for the South Wales Argus, dismissed the chance of him facing the Nottinngham fighter. 606: DEBATE Should Calzaghe fight Froch? "Coming off the biggest fight of my life and with my stock as high as it's ever been, it's a joke to think I'd fight Froch," said the 35-year-old WBO, WBA and WBC champion. "His performance in beating Robin Reid was very poor in my opinion. Luckily for him Reid was a bit of an embarrassment and has now retired. "I feel I've earned the right to go after the biggest fights possible and I have beaten everyone there is to beat at super-middleweight. "If Froch fought Mikkel Kessler it'd be a very one-sided fight so what could I possibly get out of fighting Froch now? "There would be zero interest in America and it'd be a fight I would need a lot of motivating for."
Joe doesn't pull any punches, does he? Most of us have used the exact phrases he used, many a time, when talking about this match-up...and Froch's performance v. Reid... (am a bit embarrassed for Carl, though...)
Hmmm me too but to be honest Froch was dreaming if he thought for a minute Joe was going to have anything to do with him. I worry for Froch to be honest , he is 30 now an with his style relying so much on reflexes you wonder how long he has left
Because Froch is a PUNCHER with a chance of giving an unmotivated Calzaghe a very tough fight. Because we'd like to see Calzaghe bring Froch crashing down to earth and close his big mouth with a battering. Because it is an interesting domestic scrap. So there are at least 3 reasons why I'd like to see this fight. Froch vs Clinton Woods might be interesting too - at Light heavyweight obviously
I get paid very handsomely to get there before you every time! And...they have given me the fastest internet connection in the West to do it with!:bart You have no chance!:deal
No...come on...as true boxing fans we should want to see good match-ups! Inkin v. Froch is one of the best! Joe v. Froch would be a mismatch...I want to see Froch beaten by someone slightly better than him, not by someone who is the best at 168-175! :deal
