Calzaghe left a massive void when he retired. The SMW division in particular.

The OP is right, the SMW hasn't been the same since Froch chased Calzaghe into retirement.

No show Joe played it safe and coasted thru his career without out taking any risks.

His legacy is tarnished because of it and his fans will desperatly attempt to prop him up on some false pedastal.

Yeah because the best wins of Groves, Oosthuizen, Rodriguez is?
Magee when prime was being beaten by past best Reid, so that shows a lack of knowledge on your part when you rate Magee because of what he has done past prime, which shows the division to be weaker. As we know, though, you werent watching the division back then and are too young to really comment

Bika also stepped in for hypejob Andre Dirrell, had Bika been given the full time schedule and focus one can only imagine him giving Andre Ward a bigger beating. Andre Ward actually thought he can out headbutt Sakio Bika , he was given a rude awakening.

Yeah thats right because Froch won a world title over a year after Calzaghe left the division and had done what when Calzaghe was prime. Same as Froch saying Groves hasnt done enough and dismissing him and Cleverly

Groves, Oosthuizen and Rodriguez are upcomers, I never said they were good. Them three along with Degale are contenders for the future. They can either turn out to be good, or turn out to be Mario Veits, Tocker Pudwill.

Magee is a bum/fringe contender in this era, Robin Reid was a long reigning champ in the Calzaghe era, they are not comparable.

Compare Robin Reid to Lucian Bute instead, and compare Brian Magee to Glen Catley instead.

It is with due respect when I say, on this subject you are not very educated and didnt get to watch the division, dont take it personally, but I cant take it too serious when yiou try and comment on an era that you know little of and fighters you know little of, otherwise you wouldnt have fallen into the Magee part.
I think Groves and co, are above Pudwill who was a late sub for Calzaghe and former Ottke opponent, but Veit? We will see if they can surpass that and score some wins as good as he did.
Once again, lack of knowledge. Reid wasnt a long running champ, he made a few defences, but wasnt long running. Please just stick to this era which Im sure you have/do follow. Reid was past best and no longer a champ when beating undefeated Magee and putting down about 4 times. Reid was supposed to be Magees jump up

Im sorry but you lost all validity when you claimed Mario Veit and Richie Woodhall was a better win than Sakio Bika

Why are we comparing a guy with a title reign of 3+ years to a guy with a title reign of 10+?

No problem mate, some older folk just won't accept anything from the younger generation, it has been that way for centuries. Maybe it is out of arrogance, maybe it is out of dementia, or maybe they just believe old is gold. I may treat a young buck in a similar fashion if I reach them stages. Just keep taking that medication and dementia pills, and it will be all ok.
