Calzaghe left a massive void when he retired. The SMW division in particular.

Yes this is what i remember most also.
Humiliated infront of his home fans...easily dismissed by calzaghe.
Undefeated and beat the 2 greatest American boxers ever.

    They can't handle it

"C.J" is a complete and utter spastic who is still hilariously unable to cope with the butt-hurt of Calzaghe whupping Hopkins. Deep denial, folks. He needs his head repeatedly dunking in a bucket of the foulest vintage fart sauce imaginable.

What these nit-wits don't even realize is that if they actually accepted it, they'll start to feel much better.

The S6 highlighted that the division didnt have much in it when you consider its start up that
Kessler had lost to Calzaghe, but was the only one with pedigree and was rusty going in
Froch was a world champ who hadnt beaten a top SMW
Taylor was coming off a loss and not beaten a top SMW and was 1-3 coming in
Ward hadnt done anything of note
Dirrell hadnt done anything of note
Abraham was a former MW who hadnt beaten a top SMW and his big MW was?

Ward is coming up for 30, by that time Calzaghe had made 9-10 defences and had beaten
Eubank a better SMW than anyone on Wards resume
Reid a top SMW who looked unlucky to Ottke years later
    Woodhall a top SMW
    Starie a top 10 SMW
Sheika a top 10 SMWwho had just beaten prime Johnson
undefeated Veit who would go on to be an interim world champ, at just turning 30 Calzaghe beat another top SMW in Brewer

Eubank is better than Kessler or any other name on Wards resume,
Woodhall at SMW is better than Dawson
    Reid is better than Bika
    Veit is better than Green

Then add Sheika, Starie, Giminez and a couple of nothing defences.
Overall Calzaghe has done more when you consider that Froch in order to fight ward scraped past shot boiled down Johnson, but in order for Sheika to get to fight Calzaghe he had to get past prime SMW Johnson which shows you how much weaker the division is today

Calzaghe clearly beat Hopkins and the fact that you would want to see a return with how bad Calzaghe made Hopkins looks says it all.
Remember after Calzaghe beat Hopkins people in Hopkins own team suggested retirement due to how Calzaghe made him look, but I doubt many said that after he beat Pavlik
What part of the UK are you from? How old were you when you moved?

Calzaghe hit Hopkins far more often than Hopkins could hit him. Hopkins is often the stronger down the stretch but against Calzaghe, Hopkins looked lost.
Calzaghe had to fight Veit or he would have been stripped and Veit as interim champ awarded the title

    :lol::patsch

At approximately 50 seconds into round 10, Hopkins, without any hint of shame, turned away, bent over, and offered Calzaghe his arse in front of a live global audience of millions rather than continue the fight.

If those aren't the actions of a desperate boxer, I don't know what are (assuming Hopkins isn't just some opportunistic homos3xual exhibitionist.)

Thats better at least you are not trying to mention an era you havent watched.
I notice by the smileys that you look to be butthurt, you tried to post without them earlier and look where it has led you, mentioning Vcash because you admit you are not a doctor, admit you got it wrong when talking about Reid, admit you got it wrong when mentioning Magee and then admit you got it wrong when trying to diagnose someone .
It just doesnt end for you. All because you made a fool of yourself trying to sound knowledgeable about something you never witnessed

Calzaghe fought Veit because the WBO had ordered him to, had he not they would've stripped him of his title, which wouldn't have been very conducive to helping him achieving his goal of unifying all the belts, especially considering Frank Warr-en had already started negotiations with Jeff Lacy's people before that fight.

'Joe Calzaghe's impressive sixth-round stoppage of Germany's Mario Veit in Braunschweig on Saturday has booked a unification fight with Jeff Lacy.
If IBF super middleweight holder Lacy beats Robin Reid in August, then the American will face WBO champ Calzaghe.

"If Jeff Lacy beats Robin Reid then the fight with Joe is a done deal," said Calzaghe's promoter Frank ******.

"It'll either be in September, October or November but it is a 100% done deal provided Lacy wins.''

That unification match up against Lacy would've been Joe's next fight after beating Veit had Lacy not had a mandatory defence against Robin Reid he had to get out of the way. Calzaghe and Warr-en didn't want Lacy to go through with it, but Lacy said he didn't have a choice so Calzaghe decided on taking a tune up against Evans Ashira (in which he broke his hand badly, thus delaying the Lacy clash even longer) while he waited because he hadn't been as active as he would've liked to have been due to problems in his personal life (he'd been embroiled in a long and very messy and acrimonious divorce from his then wife) and he wanted to make sure he kept himself sharp for the Lacy clash).

Calzaghe was reputed to have completely gone off the rails during that time and even contemplated retirement. His wife had threatened to not only take half of his career earnings, but she was also threatening to take 50% of his future earnings too, so bearing in that in mind, and seeing as Joe was being offered by far the biggest purse of his career for fighting Veit again (£735,000), it made prefect sense for him to go through with it for a number of different reasons.

You do make me laugh with your stats.

So what if by the time he'd got to 30 he'd had 9 or 10 defences?

    That's just circumstances.

It doesn't make a ****ing difference if Eubank was a better SMW than anyone on Wards resume.

That's like saying Joe's victory over Roy, eclipses any win on Ward's resume, because Roy was one of the greatest fighters ever.

Why don't you ever allow for circumstances?

It's not about who you fought, it's when, and how you win.

    Joe struggled with Reid.

    Is Reid better than Bika?

He had a stinker against Starie.

Andre had an easier time against Kessler, although he was older than when Joe fought him.

Froch was at the top of game and lost clearly to Andre who had an injured hand.

I don't see how Joe's resume at that point was any better than Ward's.

Prime Ward fought faded rusty Kessler suffering double vision, that Calzaghe beat at the end of his career when past prime.
Ward struggled with Bika more than Calzaghe and that was past best late in career Calzaghe beating prime Bika compared to ward fighting rusty Bika.
Ward struggled with Boone and looked fortunate to some, forget that one?

So Froch was at the top of his game having come off a win over past best boiled down G Johnson by Mdec, to get a shot at Ward, yet for Sheika to get a shot at Calzaghe he had to beat prime SMW G Johnson which he did, which once again shows how the division was tougher previously
