:happy Let's keep each other honest from now on. I'd cleared the thread out anyway, no replies after I'd proved them wrong over the Tate issue.
Count me in. No more wasting time on irrational trolls with big agendas and little knowledge-bases. :good
So far I have silencer, headbanger and timeout on my list of people not to waste time on. Pretty soon I assume bailey will follow suit and declare his intentions. I'm half way tempted to do the same with that hitman fan, voting floyd as the goat atsch
He beat Chris Eubank (ATG), Jeff Lacy (the Mike Tyson of SM), Kessler (great SM), Hopkins (HOF ATG for sure) and Jones (no.1 P4P). No-one can argue with that resume that Calzaghe is no.1 boxer of all time.
The only ones on my list are Headbanger and Bailey, trolls who are so biased that there is absolutely zero point in ever indulging either of them. Silencer is also very biased, as seen on this thread where he bizarrely tried to pretend he asked for annual ratings when he patently didn't in order to help out his chum, but I don't mind him so much, he can be quite funny on occasion. Timeout is a non-entity and HitmanFan only learned to read and write last week, neither of them even register.
I'm pretty sure i've agreed with silencer before when discussing wlad. For some season joe c brings out the worst in posters. I mean this isn't even subjective. And by october joe won't even be remembered as the goat smw which reduces his greatness way below the likes of winky and tzyu etc. If he makes the hof I can accept him as a great, that's my definition from now I think, but in terms of ranking I haven't listed enough boxers to accurately place joe.
Tell you about Greb? Tell you about him? So you are going to 'destroy' my arguement that Greb is better, and yet you don't even know who he is? Hilarious, and yet somehow unsurprising.
If you dont like the fella, then dont like him. But stop pulling numbers out of the air and pretend that you have analyzed the subject or thought it through. Just write that he is a cherrypicking slapper or whatever. If he deserves to be a top 20 depends on what criteria you use. And "I hate that white ass ****** and his white ass ****** fans" wont do. But he is easily within the top 50.
I agree. No matter who wins the Six, be it Froch or Ward (I'd prefer Froch to win but think it will be Ward), that guy is the #1 smw of all-time in my eyes, winning a gruelling tournament over 2 years consisting of the world's best beats a couple of top wins from within an entire decade of WBO dross. And obviously if that guy goes on to defeat Bute, argument over for good. Calzaghe fans think I'm biased against him, but I have always said I could see a fair argument for ranking him higher than Ricardo Lopez and Kostya Tszyu, even though I think both were superior fighters to him ability-wise (Lopez in particular was in a different stratosphere to 'Zaggers'), because my main criteria has always been and always will be resume. It's not the only thing that matters, but it's the most important. I can definitively say I rank Calzaghe below guys like Winky Wright, Juan Manuel Marquez, Shane Mosley and Felix Trinidad, he's not even close to the likes of Jones, Hopkins and Pacquiao, not even remotely close. Several tiers below. If Tszyu made the HOF, so must Calzaghe, but neither are ATGs IMO, just like Barry McGuigan, Orlando Canizales, and others aren't. JMHO.
The guy will destroy an argument about a fighter he doesn't know. This forum really is a toilet full of self-aggrandizing deluded trolls.
It seems to really hurt these Hopkins nuthuggers that Calzaghe beat Hopkins sandwiched between Hopkins best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik. Calzaghe ATG HOFer
Bailey, please answer this question: Do you rate joe as greater (in a p4p atg sense) than hopkins and jones?
Yes. Before he was shot to smithereens (Jones fight), the only men to defeat him by official record were two naturally larger defensive masters in Hopkins and Wright, both defeats coming above his best weight. Absolutely zero shame in that. IMO, he also lost to peak ODLH - who was a much better fighter than anyone Calzaghe ever fought. Tito was a 3-weight world champion, welter champ 93-99 defeating Whitaker, Carr, Campas, Camacho, Blocker, lightmiddle champ 00-01 defeating Vargas, Reid, then won mw title by stopping Joppy, also beating Mayorga and Cherifi at mw. Better resume, better peak ability, better accomplishments, all-round greater fighter, clearly, IMO. :good
I rate Calzaghe above Jones as Jones is a proven cheat and I rate Calzaghe above Hopkins as Calzaghe has a better resume than Hopkins. I do give Hopkins alot of credit for becoming a world champ again at his age
