Back to the thread title, no way in hell is joe one of the ten greatest fighters throughout the history of our sport.

Well this thread is here to debate whether nor not joe is top ten all time.

I'm glad you side with me on this issue.

As a smw, joe is number 1, for now. But I think the ts means from a p4p point of view :yikes :yikes

I don't think the 20 title defences mean a whole lot; it wasn't until 01 he was regarded as the best smw in the world after his run of 4 stoppages in 14 months. What's he should get credit for is his 6 year run at the top of the division. For unifying the titles and for cleaning out the division, eventually.

But the ts is wrong because none of this makes him come close to entering the top ten atg.

Far to many other boxers our there (way more than 10 and including Hopins and Roy Jones) who took more risks in their career who deserve a place above Cazalghe that is why Cazalghe does not deserve even top 50 imho (assuming mean a top 50 of all weight divisions Cazalghe did not do enough to get in there).

    He dodged Ottka...:patsch
Signed to fight him, hurt his hand and never made the effort to make another fight with the sr. champ in his division...

In that the Suger Ray Lenoard artificial weight class the Jr. Lt. Heavy was made for Ray so he could have as many belts as Hearns...and it is a new weight.
Lets see who fought in that weight...back when it was Heavy Weight the Guy who Ko'ed Jack Jackson in three, Fitz and Billy Conn.
So we can discard that as that weight...

As a Lt. Heavy....doubt he'd beat Tuney or the Mongoose or Charles, Jackson, Jones, and so many others.

There is a pattern in this thread. We have two debaters (lufcrazy and Popkins) actually discussing boxing, and another bunsh doing the usual ESB-activity, which for some reason always ends up harpening on about homosexuality. I get more of that stuff here on ESB compared to the webbpages with gay short stories I visit daily (no homo).

Actually Bailey, I have taken your point of views seriously up to now.

    115-112 maybe.

You don't lose the first 4 rounds, have a belated point deducted for an assortment of disgraceful fouls throughout the contest, and expect to win the title in what was otherwise a close hard fought battle.
