    P4P #1.

And his resume, if having the Hopkins and Dawson victories in close succession with his other recent wins, would be looking top class.

As it stands, Hopkins has no victories over prime, elite natural MW's or higher....

But hey, I'm not starting anything, Hopkins' resume and accomplishments are SET IN STONE, one of the most accomplished of the era.

I just think that if that played out as it is, as I'm stating above, that Calzaghe's resume needs to be looked at as better, due to this competition level with another prime, A fighter included.

People forget he's 36, but that's because he's such a supernatural virtuoso in the ring and is decieving on the eyes, his footspeed has stayed intact also.

Now here's the real question, because I think the Dawson-Calzaghe fight is going to be made, I doubt Calzaghe retires in 2008 IF he feels good at LHW and crucifies Bernard, the money and the prestige may keep him around and if he's feeling good and the weight adjustment actually works well for him, I hope he does stay around longer, he's good for the sport and is intent on fighting the top fighters, that's what we need.

But the question is, if he beats Dawson, is Mayweather really the best fighter post-Jones still? I suppose it's a controversial subject

Yeah, I mean come on. I don't hate Lance and these others guys that simply can't come on here and have a laugh, they read things all wrong.

NervousXtian is all right, pretty good poster and a good fight fan, I don't have anything against these guys like they do for me.

if joe beats bernard and dawson hands down - no room for argument, then goes on to gives either woods/pavlik or jones a beating, i would give him p4p #1. great resume towards end of his career - people will see a guy undefeated, smashing guys highly ranked/regarded at the age of 34 towards 36/37.. he'll be highly regarded - in all honesty, i dont think he needs woodsl nard, dawson, pavilk, jones will cement a great legacy if he is still undefeated - when considering his age, he'll shoot up the rankings as time goes on, and maybe be top 30/20 in the future - history is kind on certain fighters, and a fighter who retires undefeated, and beats the fighters joe did WELL AFTER his prime, he'll be remembered VERY fondly. he has the chance to make up for the last ten years, he should take it,

Oh I agree, like I said, if Joe feels really good at the weight, he may stay around for 4 more fights instead of 2 and if those fights are meaningful against top fighters and he continue's winning, that'll be wonderful for his overall resume.

As it stands now, his resume goes underrated, most of his wins are very dominative and there are a lot of underrated fighters in there.

His resume is easily top 100 right now, most agree. Not ATG, but a borderline.

I don't personally consider Joe an ATG quite yet.

Against Mitchell though, he was very fresh, and trying to finish the fight early. Against Eubank i didn't think he was quicker then vs Lacy. Then again, i wsn't looking for it, and it has been some time since i have seen the fight. If he has declined (which is likely considering age) then it would only be marginal at this point.

I think Dawson has ENORMOUS potential, and also that he is still developing as a fighter. I see him being a future superstar of boxing. Of course he has vunerabilities, but i think the more experienced he gets, the better and better he will become. He has certainly improved since earlier in his pro career. Dawson v Calzaghe is a very close fight in terms of skill, but in terms of style i think Dawson is heavily favoured. I am making an early call on this one though, and could be wrong. Adamek is a very limited defensive fighter, and Dawson still needs to be tested further before this can really be confirmed. Based on what i have seen though, i think he is the goods.

The Mitchell version of Joe Calzaghe would have lost to Kessler, so has he declined overall? I think not. The Mitchell version made stupid mistakes alot of times - too overconfident - too sloppy(great fighting instinct though).

Against Lacy and Kessler, especially the latter, he fought smart more than anything - and therefore along with his attibutes, he won.

Some feel that he is declining - I say he is a more complete fighter than he has ever been. He is still fast though.

Calzaghe is still great. His work rate and stamina is fantastic.

If Dawson beat Johnson convincingly in this fight (which i fully expect), and Calzaghe goes on to beat Dawson, i would move him to p4p no.1 without question, UNLESS PBF beats Cotto.

Calzaghe would certainly go down as the most talented fighter SINCE Roy as well. Dawson has the potential to become a better fighter then anybody Mayweather has fought. Only time will tell though.

If Calzaghe beats Dawson, he will still need Dawson to move on from the loss and create a name for himself, which seems likely considering his young age.

Kessler doing the same thing would also greatly help his resume.

Bad Chad is not as talented as Eubank. Or Hopkins.

...and I don't want people to think I dislike Calzaghe, I don't, I dislike his internet fans who overrate what he has accomplished.

That said, I think he beats Hopkins, as Bernard I think is just too old, and unlike Tarver, Winky, and Taylor (yes I know he lost).. Calzaghe actually tosses a lot of leather, those guys don't. All of those guys are methodical fighters who don't bomb, Calzaghe bombs away all night.

The key to the fight is can Hopkins hurt Calzaghe with a counter and make Joe change his fight plan, it's a big key to how the fight goes down. If Hopkins can't slow down Joe but making Joe respect him, it's an easy easy points win for Joe.. and of course Bernard would ***** he got robbed.

Factor in the age of the fighters... Now think about your post. I think an edit might be in order. I'm not comparing Chad to a prime version of either of these fighters yet, although i think he certainly possesses the natural talent to become as good or better, IN TIME.
