well just to start out...in response...you are a fool. anyone can have a difference of opinion. Calzaghe's ko by the great Hopkins was in the nature of a flash. he went on to win the fight. Ward is a dirty fighter. not without other attributes..he should rely more on them than imitating a billy goat. just believe that a prime Calzaghe would outshine Ward...a lot. agenda driven? what kind of a silly statement is that?

So hard to call this fight. Ward was a past master at making boxers fight the fight he wanted. But Joe was able to adapt in a fight, so that's a tough task for Ward.

The sheer volume of punches Calzaghe threw would also be a major issue for Ward, who didn't like to work three minutes of each round. Joe would try and make him.

Ward was better inside (and physically stronger), and that's where I think he would have aimed to take it, tie up Joe and stop him working, taking work rate out of the equation. If Ward manages this, he wins. If Calzaghe keeps it mid-to-long range, it's his fight. But neither are getting stopped...

I'll never forget how ward head butt TKO'd kessler. It was one of the ugliest things I've ever seen in boxing, and he got away with it..

There's absolutely nothing to suggest that Joe would have beaten Andre easily. Nothing.

Look at the Reid, Kessler, Bika and Hopkins fights etc.

    Similar size fighters, similar attributes.

Look at how they played out.

Common sense and logic tells you that it would have been a very close fight.

    "look how they played out"

Yeah, win win win and win. In their primes, without using headbutts and low blows, on foreign soil. Winning FAIR. Calzaghe UD, simple as.

I agree whole heartedly. Ward is without doubt the dirtiest high level boxer I have ever seen and literally got away with committing almost career ending injuries (Kessler) illegally and having better wrestling moves than Daniel Cormier FFS!

    Yeah, win, win, win.

Two splits, one tough fight and one competitive one.

Only someone ignorant would think that Andre would have been beaten with absolute ease.

    It's nothing but a fantasy.

Bika was the only one that jumped out at me for having similarities to Ward, he was another Billy Goat

To dismiss ward as if he's some unskilled brawler who only fouls would be like me saying calzaghe is a slapper who can't even throw a proper punch he has no chance and would be tooled by ward. Do you see how that works? Both of these fighters are much more than that.

The very fact that you think ward would be schooled by calzaghe like lacy was shows me two things. Either you're a agenda driven troll or in the famous words of the late great Roger Mayweather " most people dont know **** about boxing". The difference in skill level and accomplishments of ward and lacy is as vast as the Milky Way Galaxy. Ward was a complete fighter who could fight at all ranges with good defense and a high ring IQ who dominated good fighters. Lacy was a limited slugger with a chiseled physique who beat no one of note the two couldnt be more different.

Save your agenda driven lazy analysis for somewhere else because people like me who know boxing won't let you get away with it.

Complete nonsense. Holyfield committed more head butts in just one fight that Ward did over his entire career.

Golota hit Bowe to the nuts way more times than Ward did against Kovalev. Golota also bit guys on the neck. .Duran committed more low blows than Ward against Buchanan. Marciano committed more low blows than Ward against Kockel. Miranda and Biko head butted more guys than Ward. Bradley head butted more guys than Ward. Klitschko Jack Johnson and Lennox Lewis illegally clinched more than Ward.
Ward is nowhere close to being the dirtiest fighter ever.

Easily, Calzaghe has one of the highest ring IQ's of the modern era, and is Ward's equal when it comes to rhythms, angles, speed of hand, feet and mind, accuracy, ring generalship and physical strength. Calzaghe was a very mutable arrhythmic unorthodox fighter who for every adjustment his opponent makes, he makes the needed adjustment, sometimes making 2 or 3 adjustments per round. Which makes it virtually impossible for a rhythm breaker like Ward to establish a rhythm of his own.
