Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn't but if this version of Ward was around when Calzaghe was around, you can't seriously say that Calzaghe would have fought him!

Calzaghe is awfully brave now that he is retired.

It's one thing to say Calzaghe is a bad match for Froch, he simply is, it's just a match up made for Joe irrelevant of how good or bad the one or the other is; it's another to state that Calzaghe takes Ward out with ease. He quite simply doesn't.

Anyway, as we all know, no fight would have ever have taken place anyway.

Calzaghe should have had "Woulda, coulda, shoulda" stitched into his trunks

calzaghe had a similar fighting style to ward except for the punch technique, he was great on the inside and could also box from mid range and outside.

A prime Ward would have been Calzaghe's toughest ever opponent, in my opinion.

It would have been a fairly ugly fight but Joe would have won on points . I like Froch he's good fun but he's slow as molasses and easy to beat to the punch and tie up . Wards a good effective fighter but joe would have outworked him and won a mildly debatable decision .

Fair enough, but what does Froch really have to do with Ward vs Calzaghe.

The only common opponent is Kessler and we all saw what happened there.

I get your point but i still think Joe would have won . I'm not a massive Calzaghe fan and i'm not blind to the criticism but i think that in a scrappy fight which it would be your going to get a decision on the basis that you throw a lot of punches even if a lot of them are blocked or missed .That and i'm not 100% sure what my point is.

Calzaghe was much faster than Ward, SOB would have been clearly beaten. Ward was the only boxer who did not have to travel...............wonder why?

Exactly easy to say he could beat Ward from the sidelines.

I really don't understand the hype Calzaghe gets. I don't believe he fought any of the champions he beat in their prime, Eubank, Jones or Hopkins. He wouldn't rematch Robin Reid who quite clearly beat him but he gets the decision. His crowning glory was the demolition of the over hyped American Jeff Lacy who beat nobody before facing Calzaghe and hasn't beat anybody since. And lets not forget his awesome defences against Tocker Pudwill, Kabary Salem and the great Peter Manfredo jnr. IMO Andre Ward knows just a little bit too much even for Calzaghe.

Maybe this is a bit of a rant cause when I met Joe recently at a Calzaghe dinner night he was on the SNIFF. It really annoyed me that we paid £150 a ticket to see him disappear every 15-20 mins off the stage with his cousin and a security gaurd.

CALZAGHE AND HIS LEGACY ARE A JOKE.

I dunno, but since its you raising the question its probably got something to do with the colour of his skin, ain't that right Farmy?

As to Calzaghe v Ward, hmmm, a really tough one to call. Calzaghe's speed and stamina might be enough to bring him through, but Ward would give him angles, and I don't think Calzaghe ever dealt well with top-level guys with cute moves. Joe would miss plenty, but probably slap enough flesh to win on points.
