Disapponting to hear that he wants Jones as his next and last fight I really wanted to see him fight Pavlik but looks like it's not going to happen.

I can understand his reasoning but I guess the bigger purse and his undefeated record means more than risking it against a dangerous fighter like Pavlik.

I wouldn't have minded if he had have gone at Jones first, and then taken Pavlik afterwards. But this one-fight thing leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

I was upset at first with that, but he's done enough for me...he recognise's himself that he is in physical decline and that the time to get out is sooner rather than later. Also, he must also be sick of the revisionists and spinster degrading his opponent's only after he has beaten them...hence the Pavlik need's to be more established quotes...I can just see it now 'Pavlik only beat Taylor who lost twice to Hopkins and once to Wright and maybe even Spinks, Miranda the shut slugger'.

Kessler was the best thing since sliced bread on these board's in 2006...people were criticising Joe for pursuing Taylor over MK...then when he does fight and beat him, they revise and spin.

JC has earnt the gimme fight with RJJ.

If JC UD'd Pavlik or Dawson now and they didn't comeback VERY strongly afterwards they'd just be put in with the Lacy win. At the moment neither man credentials impresses me.

Yup...I like Dawson but I said the same BEFORE Johnson when many were saying he was the better fighter at 175 than Hopkins :huh Based on what beating Adamek convincingly?

Pavlik is more proven for me, but still I can see the hater's tearing apart the win...hardly a word was said against Kessler pre fight, then we all know what happened. Revision, spin.

Calzaghe has as much charisma as a dead haddock. Same goes for Khan, actually. Interviews with them are always cringe worthy.

Oh, for the days of Naz and Eubank...

Just watched the interview on the BBC site. Thought it was a "basically" a pretty good interview "at the end of the day". Bet Joe was gutted his mrs was sitting next to him though with Sienna Miller there saying how big a fan she is. I've been sceptical about him really intending to retire after the next fight but after listening to him I think he might actually mean it. Although suppose if he comes out of 'retirement' against Pavlik it makes it even bigger

Why would JC who has made a career out of not fighting the best want to take on young hungry boxer puncher like Pavlik who is also a very busy fighter. They saw what he did to Lockett therefore you cannot expect them to fancy it can you.

Yep, if he can beat Lockett then obviously he'll beat Calzaghe.

I was under the impression he would have at least two more fights: RJJ and Pavlik, in whatever order.

Taking Jones and then retiring is not what I wanted to hear. I've gained a lot of respect for Joe since his competition jumped a level in the last few years, but I feel he is still underated by a lot of people. This announcement will just add fuel to the fire for those haters, and probably affect his legacy in the long run.

What he says and actually does are two different things. He might easily beat Roy Jones and still feel there is enough in him. History is littered with fighters going back on a decision to retire

    Chill out.
