Fair enough, I wasn't trying to start an argument with you. Lets not turn this into a Hatton thread though.
I can think of a lot of words to describe your relationship with Ricky Hatton, "realistic" wouldn't be one. It's a special bond you have. It's a bit of a one way street right now, but I'm sure you can be one of the lads playin' darts down pub some day
I couldn't care less about his personal life, as long as he's fighting great fighters when they're great. That's all I want.
Fighter(s)? Plural you say? He fought one great fighter when he was great (but by no means at his peak) and got his ass whooped.
Not in the context you have chosen to take it into. Look I don't want to argue. Who would you prefer to see Calzaghe fight next?
Mayweather was the best fighter in the world, p4p #1 and undefeated. Tszyu was the best 140 pound fighter in the world, p4p #3 and unbeaten in 8 years. Great fighters.
Sleaze you make a good point. While I'm pissed off about him ducking Witter, I have a lot of respect for Hatton because he pulled out all the stops to fight the best fighter in the world (moving up in weight, travelling over the Atlantic). Calzaghe just defended his WBO belt for 10 years and then what do we get? A 43 year old Hopkins. That's nearly as old as my Dad! And still many thought Hopkins won. Now we're getting a 39 year old Jones. Hatton didn't wait until Zoo was 43.
Didn't you specify "when they were great". Tszyu wouldn't then apply, I'd ask your guide dog for further advice on this matter I'm off to watch the boxing, Betty or scurla can fight the good fight should they emerge P.S. I don't mind Hatton really. To sum him up, good little fighter that falls short of elite, bit dirty and not to my tastes, made some interesting nights for British boxing but has also ducked and dived his way there. There are pros and cons :deal
