    Supermiddlweight and cruiserweight/heavyweight? Really?

I guess we should be looking forward to Kessler v Adamek, Bute v Cunningham, etc.

What an original and funny comment by Calzaghe. Sounds like something every 15 year old ESB newbie can come up with. A bit lame too, making fun of a fighter he's sure never to meet in the ring since he's fighting three weight-divisions above him.

I'm not going to start a discussion again what would have happened if they met at SMW, both in their primes. There have been more than one threads about that. But all in all, Toney had a better career than Calzaghe had. Toney has beaten more top fighters. All Calzaghe has is a win over shot Roy Jones, a win over old Hopkins (that could have gone either way), a win over Kessler (his best) and a past prime Eubanks. Calzaghe may be undefeated while Toney has losses (some of which he shouldn't have), but at the same time Toney has nearly 40 pro fights more than Calzaghe. Do you think Calzaghe was undefeated if he had 80+ pro fights against the competition James Toney fought?

Another thing, do you think Calzaghe, who, just like Toney, is a natural SMW/LHW, had the balls to move up to the HW division and face strong natural HWs like Sam Peter or Hasim Rahman?

Toney not only already is a sure shot HOFer, he already is an ATG too. One look at his resume explains why. Any knowledgeable boxing fan, be he Toney fan or not, will confirm that.

Toney arguably beat Griffin, while he also outboxed Sam Peter (in the first fight). But **** it, even if we're going with the official results, answer me one question: if you had put Calzaghe into the ring with Sam Peter, are you sure he could have outboxed Peter for 12 rounds without getting stopped?

at least Toneys quotes are funny. Calzaghe ripped his quote straight from an ESB thread.

BTW you would never call me 'damn *****' face to face.

Oh, it was 'balls' that caused Toney to move up from his natural fighting weight?

Here was me thinking it was the fat ****'s lack of dietary discipline :patsch

So only undefeated fighters should be considered HOFers? What about Duran, Robinson, Roy Jones, Pernell Whitaker, the list could go on and on?

Calzaghe is a HOFer. But Toney is above him imo - Toney has losses, but he fought more and better competition.

So everything Toney did prior to moving up to the HW division should be ignored? Maybe you're just not been following boxing for a long time, or not following it seriously at all.

While Toneys career at HW has been somewhat of a roller-coaster and disappointing, he did kick some ass himself. And only clearly lost one fight.

Toneys ATG status is mainly based on his career before moving up to the HW division. Everything that came (and may still come) after that is a bonus. Remember Toney is an old fat MW who does not have any businees at HW in the first place.
