.........either way, what does that have to do with Calzaghe's weak competition?

He didn't only face only bums though (nor did Calzaghe for that matter). A bunch of guys did come up in weight to fight him, but they were clearly world class guys, and some top talents. Hopkins' legacy is far more secure than Calzaghe's though and I don't see threads about him beating guys like Ali, and Spinks and Dick Tiger and calling him a top 5 ATG and such.

If hopkins had not have unified and stepped up his opposition he would have been subject to the same criticisms that Calzaghe is, and rightfully so IMO.

Your absolutely right Beouche, it is with ease.
When you have facts to back you up its easy. The haters then look for something else like the KO specialist thread, but that dosent change anything either. They dont think that they might have had a still good SMW in Lacy if the fight had of been stopped

But it wasnt the widest score as 3 judges make the decision and not all 3 could even agree that Joe won the fight.

Joe Calzaghe never fought Chris Byrd , Joe never mentions it at all and Byrd denies it.
Why do they create this blatant lie ?
    They lie a lot

They lie about deals with Hopkins

Joe even said he was afraid to fly this is why he didnt go to America.

    Another blatant disgusting lie

It only needs 2 out of the 3 :smoke and the 2 that had Joe winning both had it wide and agreed on 9 of the rounds

its hilarious, Joe is constsntly clowned on these forums and its embarrasing watching guys defend his legacy. Calzaghe supporters try and overrate him, this irritates many so they bash him. Calzaghe never made a defenitive statement as to his greatness. He never took the chances or went on a limb seeking the greater challenges of his era.

He proved he was very good, yet constantly his supporters want to make him Ezzard Charles why? he was a very good Champ in a historicly weak division, in a very weak era, lets not make him out to be more than he was.

Tito Trinidad beat Pernell Whitacre no one ever mentions that why? for the same reaon beating Jones when he did proves nothing for Calzaghe, However a split decision vs BHop he should get credit for as BHop was 43 but still crafty and dangerous. Still its an old guy who was still out there because of the decline of the sport and the lack of quality combatants. Calzaghe was a good fighter and Champion nothing more nothing less.

Remember Hopkins was beaten sandwiched between his best wins of Tarver, Wright and Pavlik, and that Joe who never took any risks fought Hopkins at a weight he had never fought before, in America, with 3 American judges and Cortez as ref.
Hopkins may have been 43 but Calzaghe wasnt prime either and was nearer the end of his career than Hopkins. Calzaghe was probably due to styles and brittle hands further past his prime than Hopkins. Hopkins was fighting at LHW where he was better hydrated and stronger than when he was MW also. Do you think the Hopkins that beat Tarver would have only drawn with Mercado? I dont, and not many others would either
