I understand where you are coming from, and it is fair to say. But to my knowledge, yo do not see this amount of revisiting and reassessing with other fighters. There are a lot of question marks, as you say.

Hopkins went on to do great things in his own right and now gets mentioned as one of RJJ's best wins. At the time though, Hopkins was a top contender and lost to another top contender. The argument with Hopkins for Calzaghe fans centers around whether he was in his prime as a fighter or not.

A loss by Hopkins now does not mean he was shot when he fought Calzaghe, either. It was a good win. But it tends to get overstated by some, understated by others. A win by Hopkins now does not mean he was in his prime, now or then.

Thanks bub. Not questioning the veracity of your claims, just wanted to know where you got em. I can;t seem to find a source for monthly rankings anywhere. WTF?

:patsch:lol: Yes he did, he outlanded Hopkins and landed more on Hopkins than anyone else had ever before. If he wasnt landing Hopkins wouldnt have been looking to get time out and points deducted from Calzaghe. Why should Calzaghe have given Hopkins a rematch when Hopkins ran from him for all those years? I thought you all thought Hopkins was shot and that the fight happend too late, so why a rematch after? Because Hopkins wasnt shot . Live with it, Calzaghe won
    Exactly :good
Why should I? On the subject you are reffering to I have given 3 sources even if not the most reliable, nobody has given a source against me.

Very very true. The go knit picking for anything, down to his style, old things he said (when a person can say different things from day to day) to anything else they can find

Calzaghe beat Hopkins fair and square, Hopkins had home advantage with Cortez as ref and Adalaide Byrd as one of the judges she has a reputation for voting for boxers from the same ethnic background as herself and she went for Bhops by a single point the other two judges went for Calzaghe by 3 points and by a 5 point margin.
Hopkins was 95% prime when he fought Calzaghe, Hopkins had beaten Tarver and Wright just before the Calzaghe fight and Pavlik just after the Calzaghe fight.
Calzaghe beats Hopkins at any stage of their careers, Calzaghe being too fast, too quick, too many punches and possesing equally good determination, heart, ring craft and will to win.
Calzaghe was very close to retirement when they fought, Calzaghe's hands were shot, it was Bhops best chance of beating Calzaghe and he didnt.

Calzaghe didnt want a rematch in Cardiff as a farewell fight knowing he escaped with an SD.

He retired after RJJ, who was shot.

Calzaghe at the time was 35, and got floored by a 42 year old man, whose last KO win was in 2004.

Hopkins didnt have the same speed, stamina and power as he displayed in earlier in his career, however Calzaghe showed he still had it coming off his greatest win by using speed, stamina and power.

Hopkins won his last few fights simply on ring craft, since his speed, power and stamina had diminished as he was 42 years of age, while Calzaghe was still winning fights based on natural atheletic attributes.

Yet still Calzaghe was only able to get an SD, so if a Calzaghe closer to his physical prime was only able to get an SD win over a more over the hill BHOP. Prime for Prime the fight would have been more difficult for Calzaghe than it would have been for BHop, BHop would have banged him up.

Calzaghe didnt want the rematch knowing he survived.

Give me an example where Calzaghe showed equally good ring craft.

Hopkins is hands down the best of this generation when it comes to this.

Calzaghe aint known as a person who outboxed, he outworked. Give me an example where he outboxed a world class elite fighter?

Looks like you realised you messed with the wrong person. First you tried to debate, but now you just re uttering things to make yourself happy.

Just dont try messing with the wrong guy again and you wont look foolish in the result.
