One thing I wanna say -Hopkins would have looked good (I see that clearly) the last 5 years against anyone with a slow pace as he did against Pavlik who couldn't hit that night as you could clearly SEE in his body language. An I'm a big Calzhage fan -you couldn't look at the third rd against Jones or the rest of fight after that an not wonder if he could have beaten jones in his prime. This is the part where you risk to much staying to long -because your fans CANNOT SUPPORT YOU ADEQUATELY?.:deal

No matter how long this thread goes on for and how much the Calzaghe fans gloat and argue and protest, they cannot change history, and history will remember that:

ROY JONES JR was a greater boxer than JOE CALZAGHE.

    and that

BERNARD HOPKINS was a greater boxer than JOE CALZAGHE.

The history of the sport will show this forever, and it will never change, and everyone other than silly little jealous bitter Calzaghe fanboys know it, so keep bitching boyos.

    THE END.

I'd still pick him to beat prime Hopkins and be competitive with prime Roy, ATG rankings or not. History remembers Eder Jofre as better than Fighting Harada, but Harada still beat him twice. Same with Basilio and Sugar Ray Robinson.

Where they rank on an actual list can be a good reference, but pretty overrated when it's all said and done matchupwise because nearly all those high ranking ATG's inevitably get beat by fighters not on them.

Frankly, I don't care that Calzaghe's not a top 20 ATG. He's still a ***** of a matchup for anyone with an all around style that's the closest thing we'll see to how Harry Greb fought. Take it or leave it, but I find that something to get excited about which is why I've been a fan of him for years.

History will show Calzaghe won and they lost. The comments you make about both of them being better boxers are your opinion NOT fact. Live with it. :hi:

i am really tired of reading this claim by the calzaghe boys to justify him fighting roy jones. the important thing here is joe, even at his current age, is regarded as a current top p4p fighter while jones has been past it for the last 5 years. of course props to joe for the longetivity but this fight is just an exhibition match. and if joe's prime as they say is about 8 years ago, why the hell he wasted it fighting second rate contenders? i hope i will not get branded as an hater for this comment for this is just my observation and you can correct me if i'm wrong.

An while floating vertically in a luxuriant pool of lollypop juice/sucker syrup you realized this an new it forever. After that 3rd rd against jones you didn't know anything for sure. YOU DIDN'T KNOW IT. With every chance theres risk but smart people can always ameliorate it.

I'll give you RJJ, but not certain of Hopkins. Styles make fights, but Hop was beaten by taylor, who lost to Pavlik. who lost to Hopkins, and where Joe fits in cannot be argued sucessflly
