Why not just show respect to 2 great fighters who retired on top.

froch hasn't fought any 40somethings for world titles true. joe leads in stakes versus the granddads against all the smws, not just froch, cheers.

froch beat Kessler more convincgly under the same situ. nother flop.

flop argument, not boxing, but at least in line with your other flops.

Yet Joe said that Ward was the only guy who could beat him when he retired?

    Yeah and he also said...

"I would have beaten Ward. Like I say, people can judge styles, but I can adapt to every style and mine was harder to hit. I think Ward is good in his comfort zone, but I would have got him out of that and wouldn't have fancied it. It would have been a good fight. There's no ego. It is belief. I think it would have been a chess match,"

Calzaghe had fallen out of love with the game and even said himself, he began taking short cuts in training which you cannot do - his hands were gone as well.

Nothing Froch had on the table after "knocking out George Groves in front of 80,000 fans at Wembley" would have topped that - going into any fight when your not fully "up" for it is dangerous.

The both of them got out of the sport at the right time.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried.

Calzaghe threw the towel in at his absolute prime. He even said so himself.

He threw the most amount of punches in his entire career against Jones. He was completely reinvigorated , rejuvenated , re-energized at 175. Strong , fit and healthy unlike how he was drained at super middle.

He went up to avoid Froch and Butay. And retired to avoid Zsolt Erdei

Well Calzaghe had just beaten Hopkins and Jones, tail end of his career and had acheived all that he could.

Froch as we found out turned the Calzaghe fight down twice despite his goading and whilst he's had an excellent career himself retired more shook imo.

Froch was stuck between a rock and a hard place in which he would of had to fight Ward, which he avoided as deep down he knew he'd be shown up again. Plus despite him saying GGG would be easy work when all said and done contracts on show he turned tail and retired.

All of a sudden Froch had lost the love of the game,in other words his gimme fight against Chaves went through the window and he had to face the reality of facing two fighters who would probably beat him.

For froch you didn't note Hopkins calling him out and froch mentioning something like it being a tough fight that he would be expected to win

The reason why Froch had to travel in his career was because of not so good promotional outfit and frankly he imo wasn't a very likable character with little support outside of the **** hole that is Nottingham.

Calzaghe whether people like it or not had Britain's biggest promotional outfit on his side and whilst not the most likeable of people in general the British public took to him.

The Hopkins that Calzaghe beat would have beaten Froch.

I would slightly favour Hopkins now
