The ability to seperate fantasty from reality, and public image with private persona. Do you honestly believe that what you saw of Hamed on his way to the ring, and in the post fight interview was the real Naseem? I always felt it was 90% act, as I suggested above, I think he was a showman, playing to the crowd.

what this made no sense whatsoever. like a lot of your posts. im not even saying it was my view first off.

It makes no sense to mention the fact it might have been an act, when it was all you ever saw and what he was known for. private persona?? huh we are talking boxing anyway?? 'whats with the private persona'. What separation was there from this 'persona' outside the ring when hamed has been caught speeding several times. Once at 110 miles an hour, 3 other times and once at 90 mph causing very very serious injuries to a driver in a car he hit head on after he was apparently trying to overtake another one.??? In court it was said how he was trying to impress some businessman in the car at the time by 'showing off' the car. its scary

No, you're right. Hamed was 100% authentic and everything he said and did in front of the camera was totally genuine and it wasn't an act at all, Naz was a showman? Pah! an entertainer? No way.

    Legacy?

    Hmmmm, difficult.

I immediatley voted Calzaghe, but on consideration I'm not sure.

Firstly, in terms of better fighter and better acheivements is Calzaghe by a long, long, long way. However, legacy... Hamed may just nick it in that he was more entertaining, put more bums on seats, reignited interest in the lower divisions...

    I'm torn.

Thats exactly how I see it too. I've been trying to explain to people that legacy doesn't just mean talent and achivement, or at least I don't think it does.

In my mind the criteria of a legacy is this: Talent, sporting achivement, impact, influence, fame and longevity.

Seems most people diagree with me, but I can live with that, I just wish they would read my article on the first page and THEN decide.

Well, I'm as guilty as the rest, I read the headline, voted and then read your article. Which made me think.

I'm on the fence at the moment in regards to legacy...

May I suggest you watch the MAB fight again without prejudice. For 1, it's a good fight, so it's a good watch, and 2. you will see it was not a beatdown.

MAB won the fight, that is all. But it was no beatdown.

of course Hamed has the better legacy. It's been over 8 years since his last fight and people still talk about Hamed today with great gusto.

In 2 years time no one would even remember who Calzhagi was. Except for people in Wales.

Yeah but when the going gets tough Naz quit, Naz only ever had one bad point in his career and he quit and i will never forget that. Naz wasted his talent when Calzaghe reached the highest levels possible.

Naz beat every world title holder in the division. He was regarded as a P4P elite, and is regarded as an ATG featherweight and British Legend. I don't believe that Hamed maximised his talent and potential, but I don't believe he wasted it either.
