If you win a world title, you are by definition 'world class'. If you are ranked in the Top 10 in the world, you are, by definition, 'world class'.

You should have said, ATG, that's what Barrera is/was. Hamed beat many world class fighters, but no ATG's.

Naseem had a better resume at Feather than Joe at 168.

Naz beat 10 champs (5 current) in 6 years 17 world title fights

Joe fought 7 champs 2 current over 10 years.

Naz fought in the US outside his comfort zone....

Yes Naz lost to Barrera...but at least he had the bottle to face a great in his prime

Agreed. This idea that some seem to have that only p4p level fighters are world class is ridiculous! World class= able to compete with the top fighters in the world at your weight.

Maybe so. Resume overall goes to Calzaghe though, if you consider his 'win' over Hopkins as an actual victory, and not a dodgy decision.

Also, one thing to note is that the FW division in Hamed's era was better than Super-Middle was during Calzaghe's reign.

Hamed lost to Barrera and Calzaghe never lost, that sums things up quite nicely.

Hamed fought better fighters at an earlier stage, Calzaghe avoided the best until the arse end of his career....sums it up nicely. :good

What would Manny and Marquez have done to Hamed?

Calzaghe would have handled anyone at between 160lbs to 168lbs and would have been competitive with anyone at 175lbs.

They would have given him a tough fight.

Just like a prime Jones Jr, or a prime Bernard Hopkins, or James Toney, or Kelly Pavlik, or Chad Dawson, or Glen Johnson, or Antonio Tarver would have given Joe a tough fight (if he had the balls to actually face them).

Naz had more natural talent and a resume thats got far more depth than Joes but when it came to fighting a genuine atg Calzaghe succeeded (just) and Naz failed quite badly.I know Hopkins was 44 but he was still formidable and a level ahead of anyone Naz beat.

Neither of them are atg's imo (changed my mind about Calzaghe recently) but Joe's a little bit closer.

Marquez would've been too much for Naz but I feel Pac would've been treading a tightrope against Hamed. He's a better fighter now than he was when fightinh Mab and Morales.
