Ricky Hatton won most of his fights by using illegal tactics, which weren't stopped by the home town refree

He should have know, that he just wasn't that good and was a B+ fighter at best (just like Roach said)

Instead his ego got too big and he even told people to bet the house on him against Pacman ...

I used to be a huge Ricky Hatton fan and I recognise what he's done for the sport, but I am fast losing respect for him, the way he has managed his supposed return to the sport/or retireMent has been nothing short of a fiasco.

Best line I heard on sky sports was he started training again, it didn't go to well, so he then decided to go on a stag do in Tenerife instead!

He is in danger of losing alot of fans with the way he has managed this.

If you're going to fight, then fight. If not, retire, if you're not really sure, then retire.

Calzaghe, was the better fighter and had a more exciting style

Was more resourceful and could up his game during mid fight, he also has the edge resume wise.

You do know that Calzaghe tried to make fights with Jones, Hopkins and Taylor, right?

This is said to gain a reaction.

By now I think alot of people are aware that Collins retired in the build up to fighting Calzaghe, Ottke wasnt interesred to meet him, and Calzaghe agreed to go to America to face, Hopkins, Jones and Taylor earlier and they all priced themselves out. These points have been quite well detailed now.
Ive never been a big Hatton fan, but dont want to disrespect him, so ill say Calzaghe because who didnt he fight that would fight him and he cleaned out his division before moving up and beating the premier man at LHW.
I always felt there were alot of people in Hattons own division that he could have fought and didnt (not including the Pac or Maywheather fights)
But in truth both have had good careers

    Calzaghe.

Much more skill, better wins (old Tszyu possibly excepted), less delusion, (much) less annoying, never humiliated.

Even if Calzaghe had the opportunity to face Jones/Hopkins/anyone else at their peak you can see him being, at worst, competitive.

Hatton seemed to want to fight the best, and eventually did.
Calzaghe did wait a very long time to make his debut in America, but he eventually did. And at that stage in his career it was very risky from him.

Either way, both stepped between the ropes so they gain my respect there. I don't think you can put a gauge on how much you respect a person. You either respect them, or you don't!

Hatton by miles. He had confidence in himself and started fighting the best he could. Yes he lost, where as joe did not, but Hatton challenged himself much more.
