Hatton, I know its taboo to be a Hatton fan but like I give a ****, fought the best and got beat but unlike a lot of British fighters who are inexplicably loved despite avoiding mostly everyone of any worth in their era (Calzaghe, Eubank) he beat some good fighters despite having limited skills himself. I'm glad he's not coming back and I think over time people will begin to appreciate him more, I hope so anyway. I dont hate Calzaghe but he should have extended himself more if he wanted more respect.

  4. Hatton easily

Joe Calzaghe's best competition was Mikkel Kessler. To go your entire boxing career and the best guy you fought was Mikkel Kessler is disgraceful.

    I am American.

Calzaghe by far. Calzaghe was a great fighter. Excellent skills, stamina, mental strength and determination.

Hatton was an overrated club fighter.

Calzaghe was several classes above Hatton.

I still think the best guy he fought was Eubank, but he fought who he could, Hopkins, Jones and Taylor were just not interested in fighting him.

When people talk about Calzaghe fighting over the hill fighters they forget he was 35 when he fought Hopkins. Hopkins you can not call over the hill, he is in such great shape that he is makes up for what he has lost in speed and stanima with his experience. I think Calazaghe also deserves credit for beating Jeff "The New Tyson" Lacy, he ended Lacy's career. And Calzaghe gets no credit for beating Eubank. Calzaghe is an ATG, end of. Hatton will be remembered as a very good fighter.

The thread is about who you respect more and I respect Calzaghe because he had a more exciting style and was more skillful than Hatton.

If you want to talk resumes it was Hatton who wanted nothing to do with Witter or Cotto when the fights were their to be made. His best win was the Kosta fight where his tactics were at best borderline legal. I cant see Calzaghe getting wiped out by a guy who started fighting about 35 lbs below him either.

This. He lost his two biggest fights but he did fight them. His two losses were bigger than ANY of JC's wins, at least in interest. I don't think JC vs Kessler was as big were they? Serious question. I don't know the numbers.
