Why would the undefeated Middleweight champ fight Kessler? He stays at middleweight or fights "Slappy" Joe. Granted Joe's style is unconventional to say the least, Pavlik is a much underrated boxer. For anyone to say Joe would school Pavlik is downright ignorant. Could Joe win a decision, absolutely, but a lesson-PLEASE!! Hope Joe ans his people put there money where there mouth is and fight Pavlik, not a well over the hill RJJ.Pavlik would match JC's workrate and hurt JC with that right hand all night! It would be a mega fight that boxing could use. If Pavlik loses @ 168 who cares he has 15 million in his pocket moves back to MW and gets his belts back.
BooRadley i have seen you on this board constantly say the same things, all week. please give evidence by video or a official complaint by a boxer which shows: 1. calzaghe slaps and provide us with clear examples of: 2. why you hae not seen joes career to see how good his chin is 3. do you know anything about adapting tactics in fights? i suggest you watch joes fights again and see how he changes then post again then i will tell you which fights and what round he changed tactics not having a go at you booradley but your posts are seriously flawed and its been on the threads you been posting coming up to the fight
Calzaghe has no power. Powder Puff puncher. Pavlic is the stronger one, and with his stiff jab and crushing right hand, he destroys Joe Powder Puff Calzaghe.
you know i never seen joe fight till last night but before i did all i heard and still hear how good joe is and how he would hurt pavlik.....well i am glad joe won over hopkins but he will not beat pavlik..you say joe adjusts to the fights...so does kelly...you say joe hits hard ...not from what i seen more slaps..kelly does not slap he hurts..also joe is open alot and kelly will hurt him...i have been just reading peoples post and ill tell you what when will pavlik recieve the respect he deserves..he did not fight old fighters he fought great fights...i just realy want to know when will pavlik get his respect for his performance...just curious
Undefeated against undefeated. Kessler hasn't earned a shot at Pavlik. It was Calzaghe calling out Pavlik until Hopkins made him realize, he really does belong on the senior ciruit of boxing.
i understand what your saying, just feel you shouldn't base joe fight on hopkins - nobody looks good when fighting hopkins
well pavlik is a forward coming puncher and thats exactly what joe loves and looks best against. If you look at joes career (and even amatuers) he is never great against mauling/inside/spoiler boxers, NOBODY looks good against hopkins and the fact joe landed more punches then anyone else to bhop shows how good he is to the other fighters against bhop. pavlik i think should think twice before fighting calzaghe IMHO as its to risky and joes not going to stick around until 2009, and pavlik can easily dominate anyone else at MW. I am sure his management will ONLY accept the fight unless he gets more of the purse as joe is retiring anyway -joe needs pavlik more then pavlik needs joe so pavlik can drive a hard bargain. also its not a money spinning fight so will HBO invest much in it i dunno?
joe would be able to toy with pavlik imo and would put on an absolute clinic, hes just too fast for him, its the sort of fighter joe will look really good against, depending on pavliks chin and heart would depend if he sees the fight out cos id say there will be close to 1000 shots landing on his chin
In the countdown to the fight, they show Pavlik pushing that 300lb tire around ... I don't give many of his opponents a chance to beat him.
Pavlik is going to be there and so is Calzaghe ... the defining factor in this fight will be, who's going to back up. Calzaghe's the bigger guy coming in and both fighters are relentless in their own way. Its would be a great fight ... I think that Pavlik has more weapons than he has shown us ... he has underrated speed, a great chin, and good head and shoulder movement. Calzaghe is fast of course, has good footmovent, very swift on his toes, and throws alot of punches. When it comes down to it ... I don't think that Calzaghe has enough to really discourage Pavlik from coming forward. I see an action packed fight, with Pavlik being the winner ... Pavlik is too strong and at 25 has a long way to go and as his body fills out then his power will grow. At 36, what you see is what you get with Calzaghe ... he actually looked sluggish against Hopkins and fought sloppy.
I'd love to see a Pavlik - Calzaghe match up. I think even a declining Calzaghe might have too much for Pavlik.
Are you shitting me? Even the worst Joe hater will grudgingly admit he adapts to the fight. Have you never seen him fight? It took him 3 or 4 to figure out Kessler, he switched and went to a jab based attack and romped away from then on. Against Hopkins his early tactics were getting him beat so he changed again and got back in the fight, instead of trying to fight at range and get countered he fought in the pocket vs a great pocket fighter. He had Lacy down inside a round. Look at the fights where he broke his left, like the Ashira fight. Not a classic I'll admit but not many fighter could seamlessly make a switch from his normal style to pure jabbing and still produce a shutout win. Look at what Joe does to fighters with less than great defenses like Lacy and its clear there is enough pop in his punches to damage. Sure he has adapted to his brittle hand by rarely throwing full power shots to the head but never for one second think he is feather fisted. He isnt. Just ask Eubank, Kessler, Mitchell, Viet etc etc
say what the **** you want about Joe Calzaghe but he is one bad mother ****er.. and i really can't see anyone beat him.. he's so fking great and he beat the **** out of hopkins
