I say Toney hands down...better fundamental boxer, better chin (probably the best today), one of the best counterpunchers of this era, one of the best defensive fighters of this era, able to compete from the 160lb. division to the McDonald's FAT division (Heavyweight is called that when you are 5'8 239)

    James "****IN" Toney

Calzaghe's good - but Lights Out was better.

Calzaghe is better easily, maybe his resume isn't as accomplished as Toneys but i thought we were originally talking about who is better at 168!? Prime for prime, Calzaghe would win UD, even tho Cal is still in his prime! Whats toney doing now, down at his local BK!

    You are KIDDING right?

JT in a LANDSLIDE, and I'm a big Calzaghe fan, he's a top 3 fighter in the world right now.

At 168, there is no way Calzaghe beats Toney. HE COULDN'T HURT TONEY, Toney would be completely comfortable countering JC all night, and a 190 lb. Toney basically beat a poor man's JC in Jirov.

The Toney/JC fight would look like his fight with Jirov. Easy UD for Toney.

    1) Did you see the fights against Griffin? If not, don't speak. They were bull****.

    2) The fight against Drake involved an obviously underconditioned Toney.

Remember, Toney also fought 80 times. Calzaghe has fought 44.

Toney has fought in 5 division. Calzaghe in 1 (and a soft division).

Toney has never been knocked out in 5 divisions, and barely gone down.

PRIME FOR PRIME, Toney's style and skill beats Calzaghe. Toney loves a fighter who comes to him, and allows Toney to counter...

Calzaghe's resume is better??? You better check boxrec or something. Look at who Toney fought. Look at who Toney beat. Look at the titles and the divisions.

    Then...look at JC

Toney spent a lot of what would presumably have been his prime years in almost total obscurity. His best wins are better but I don't think it's right to just remember the good points and completely ignore any negatives when you're talking about a resume.

If they actually fought at 168lbs then I don't know who I would pick to win. I've seen both fighters look outstanding but then seen both look pretty ordinary. Both are good enough to beat each other definitely.

define what weight you beleive toneys prime to be at

  14. Toney lost 2 times to Montell Griffin, and to some guy Drakre Thadizi?? and got a gift decision after getting his ass handed to him by Dave Tiberi, and was put on his ass and schooled and totally outboxed by Roy Jones, as far as those who say Toney wasn't in good shape in his defeats, that's his problem, as a professional if you don't have discipline to come into a fight in good shape you deserve to lose:deal
Calzaghe was and is clearly the betetr of the 2, he has never lost especially to a guy like Drake Thadizui:lol: and is more consistent, and stays at 168, because he has the willpower to stay in shape, unlike fat-ass who is now a blubbery 230...
