I would say Calzaghe. Although it would have been a tought fight for both fighters head to head.

Hard to say, Toney fought better competition, but relying solely upon history of who they've fought is a bit imbalanced as Joe didn't have the access to the same quality of fighter as Toney did (for various reasons).

Toney has the better resume, but I'd go 50/50 on a prime fight. Whilst alot of people outside the US will have seen Toney throughout his career, Joe beat everyone who stood infront of him by a fair margin at worst since Eubank.

Joe also didn't put forth the effort did to make BIG fights with BIG names in VARIOUS DIVISIONS. I am sure you would admit that.

The resume is no contest. Having 0 losses isn't everything in boxing. SRR had plenty of losses, so did Duran, Hearns, etc.

It was a lot easier for JC to keep his perfect record intact when he was sitting at his natural weight, against PRIMARILY easy competition.

Hahahahahahahah you think JC is better technically than Toney. Wow, you must've never boxed in your life.

turn that on its head a say a very limited face first windmill fighter david tiberi gave toney absolute fits because toneys slow feet simply could not get him out of the way.

Tiberi also clocked Toney in the nuts in the 6th. That might slow your feet down too.

I find it ironic you say ''you better check boxrec or something'' when thats clearly all you have done for Calzaghe and other fighters, basing your views on a one page list on a screen.

Yet another boxrec bandit ladies and gentleman, coronacards.

Nope, I've watched them both fight genius, something you obviously have never done.

THE RESUME QUESTION SHOULD BE SIMPLE. Toney has fought almost twice as many times, against MUCH better competition, in 5 weight classes...

As far as my views on a fight, it's simple. JC leaves himself open because his combinations aren't straight and not always crisp. He can get wild, and his balance isn't always so great.

Toney loves sitting in the pocket and counter punching. He's beaten fighters using just a counter straight right (which would give JC fits). Toney loves in-fighting, loves having his back against the ropes and having someone come at him, he's got maybe the best chin of this generation, and he is one of the most resourceful/savvy fighters out there.

On a skill level (for what they have demonstrated in the ring), there is no comparison.

Rocky Marciano is undefeated, but nobody considers him the best heavyweight either. The problem is that Calzaghe nuthuggers think that an undefeated record in ONE SOFT DIVISON, against mostly unknowns is good enough to earn ATG status. It's not. Also, Rocky beat BETTER competition than Calzaghe anyway.

Toney has the more impressive record... but I wouldn't underestimate Joe. If the two could be matched up at 168, I'd probably go with Joe. I just don't see him losing. Ever. Like FLoyd, I think he can adapt to any style and beat it.

PS: This my OPINION. If anyone chooses to argue it, you're wasting your goddamn time.

You shouldn't be compared to a self loathing, diseased weasel, that would be the death of the poor fellow.

Longevity - Calzaghe JC has fought half the fights in 4 less years against much weaker competition in only one weight class
Consitancy - Calzaghe YES, we know Toney is a fat ass, but he was also competitive on and off for 18 years in 5 weight divisions while being a fat ass, not easy to do.
Domination of a weight class - Calzaghe Calzaghe dominated a division better, yes. He also refused to fight outside of it, and fought lackluster competition. Toney took on bigger challenges and moved to better divisions (sometimes ate himself there haha)
Unifying titles - Calzaghe When, a year ago? Toney beat Nunn for the Middleweight Championship at age 22.
Unbeaten streak - Calzaghe It's easier to do that against soft competition. Admittedly, Toney was too fat and lazy to do it anyway haha
Drawing power (fans/money) - Calzaghe Irrelevant, doesn't go on a boxing resume. Besides Toney had 7 figure paychecks before JC was a pro.
Offense - even (JT the better counter puncher but JC way more active) JC is more offensively oriented and has a better knockout ratio, but is he more effective against top competion? We don't know!
    Power - Toney Obviously
Defense - Toney NOT EVEN CLOSE
Competition - Toney NOT EVEN CLOSE
Image - Toney (he's american, black, and an ******* - for some reason that makes him rank higher to the biased american boxing media!!!) Irrelevant to his boxing resume. Toney gets credit because HE SEEKS OUT BIG FIGHTS, something that JC didn't do nearly as much of.

HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT JC HAS A BETTER RESUME???

I have 17 Toney fights on my hard-drive. I have 18 of Calzaghe's. I have probably watched each at least twice.

    You ****ing muppet.

Stop pwning yourself. Your not speaking too your schoolfriends in the playground on here, your speaking to people who actually know one or two things about the sport

I did not bother reading the rest of your post after that first sentance.

    :hi:
