Calzaghe: Oscar not a real fighter!

    One day after declaring that the sport of boxing is dying, light heavyweight kingpin Joe Calzaghe ripped into fellow superstar Oscar De La Hoya. "De La Hoya may be two years younger than me, but I am a hungry guy," Calzaghe told the Western Mail. "He has got a lot more money than me as well. That's the big difference in this. He really didn't need to keep fighting. De La Hoya hasn't been a real fighter for years. You can't fault the guy because he has been a great fighter in the past and made so much money from the sport. But, realistically, he has been a part-time boxer for years. That showed last weekend against Pacquiao who was so hungry to win that fight. Unfortunately for De La Hoya he just fell apart at the hinges after the first few rounds. He just didn't have anything there. So hopefully that was his last fight, I don't think he is going to fight again."

    Oscar contributed immensely to boxing and still does through Golden Boy. And this jumped up WBO flash in the pan has the brazen audacity to say Oscar wasnt a hungry fighter?

    What are YOU on about?! He clearly says "You can't fault the guy because he has been a great fighter in the past" which is what you're saying too. Did you even read what you posted?

    Put your Calzaghe hate to one side for the moment and read it properly.

    Isn't what he said there pretty much spot on regarding De la Hoya?

    He's basically saying that he was a great fighter but is now a part timer and not hungry enough anymore which is correct really.

    Hate aside.... Joe is spot on. DLH was a great fighter but has indeed been part time for years and it did indeed show vs manny. What exactly do you disagree with other than him talking at all which does seem to wind you up a bit?
