Mandy was at a Calzaghe fight in Cardiff before ..........I got to be ringside at the time sitting right behind them.

When Calzaghe came out after the fight he said oright to Johnny Nelson and Mandy asked Johnny Nelsons wife if they wanted to come for a drink.

    Mandy was quite sexy.

But she was big headed too.

When she split up with Joe she said

"All the girls in the village will be chasing him now.......throwing themselves at him"

    Or words to that effect.

It was like she was saying she was this supreme woman who had the man every woman dreams about...........and now she had split from him..........every other woman in the world now gets a chance at what she had

Scurla is a good poster but this is a bad thread, especially the goading title.

What you expect when the Village consists of around 10 people.. Joe and his dad were probably the only guys in the whole town.

I think you've got to read this without thinking of Joe C "the personality". hate to say it, but he's right. Oscar only staged this fight - it was boxing's biggest promotion and made a mint - for one thing: his own pocket. There were, of course, other winners - Pacquiao, his team and nation; plus believe it or not: you and me, Joe Public. The outcome wasn't exactly predicted and the magnitude of the win left many in shock. Perhaps this is why boxing can still thrill and shock,

For the record, I had Pacman winning this with Oscar imposing as the fight went on. This was as the wee man ran out of steam and was drawn into corner exchanges. Wrong... wrong... wrong and by a country mile - and happy to be wrong! Oscar looked drained, Pacquiao fit, sublime, focused and hungry. I don't care how much Oscar made from this one as money will never compensate him for a pride that was shattered and ripped from him on the night. Pacquiao in victory was even better when he sheepishly said: "I think I did quite well tonight!" maybe that's why we all admire this wee guy!! This fight delivered on many levels and provided food for thought. (Think I'll shut up now as I'm getting a bit moralistic.)

To be fair Flint, within the constraints of Newbridge high society she had made a pretty good marriage for herself....;)

Misleading headline or not, Calzaghe can't really be faulting guys like De La Hoya. I mean, in terms of legacy, greatness, leaving a lasting impression on Boxing, Joe Calzaghe doesn't really compare to Oscar De La Hoya.

Both are bound for the HOF, but De La Hoya secured his place long before Calzaghe did. Calzaghe's biggest fights have been his last two bouts at the tail end of his career. De La Hoya has been having mega bouts for years, been the biggest name in the game for sometime.

I just don't see how Calzaghe can criticise a guy like Oscar. Has Joe been listening to advice from his father, Enzo, again? Its not wise to do such a thing imo.

Besides, if Calzaghe is really a hungry fighter he would be boxing Froch or Dawson, but will probably retire, making an announcement early in the new year!

Put it this way, Oscar won't be losing any sleep over Joe's comments!
