both are cut from the same cloth, thats fairly obvious. Avoided top fighters in their time making useless mandatories over and over and over THere a reason guys like Haye and now froch (gonna try at least) get respect evenwith a loss or 2 , they fight the best out there asap
I remember that onfire guy from one of the sites was saying that joe was making the first defense of the title in the fight after lacy (against another lower level guy believe it or not cannot even remember the name ashira or bika i54) lol Joes jaw dropped thats right joe 20 defenses and people dont even know ya
yes it is however America is where all the worlds tops fighters meet , the best P4Pers fight there filipino againt mexicans etc even the best brits fight there to snip out the comp, Joe never went until he got guys intheir 40s
The Filipinos and the Mexicans fight there because they can earn 10x the cash they can at home. Not so for a UK champ like Calzaghe. So the only other reason to fight there is if you get offered a mega fight or title shot that you can't get at home (Hatton-Mayweather, Calzaghe-Hopkins, Jennings, Lockett etc...) For the vast majority of Calzaghe's career there was nobody at his weight that fitted that bill. The only fighter who would have been a big enough fight to justify it was Jones and he was a 175lber.

You are talking horse****. I am talking about the United States. Where there have been no 168lbers of real note since Roy Jones. And I was talking about fights at super middleweight. Therefore, fights a bit above or below are very interesting but not really relevant to the discussion at hand.
The same bum sprree that included the #1 contender and WBA/WBC champ, p4p #4 light heavy champ and another top 10 168 contender? Jesus, I wish most of the UK world champs would go on one.
