Dunno if its just me but who feels Joe has been a success DESPITE his dad and not because of him. This modern trend of slapping the fighters punches with the pads is bad form and does nothing for the fighter.

is it me or are the size of his gloves massive? They look like 20oz gloves or something.

Honestly though, if Calzaghe thinks this really is his last fight, and he comes out and hits Jones like that, not only will he stop Jones, he'll hopefully dispell the myth of him being a slapper.

Sure, he slaps, but he sure as Hell can punch too. If he has no worries about not fighting in the future, he won't need to protect his hands and I think he'll want to go out with a bang. It changes everday but at the moment I'm saying Calzaghe, TKO 7.

Two days ago I had Roy on points! After the Darchinyan-Mijares fight, I'm inclined to say anything can happen. But my head tells me Roy has seen better days and not to get swayed by the promotion and the fact B-Hop looked so good against Pavlik. That Hopkins, not Jones, who has been viciously K.O'd twice and has fought no one since the third fight with Tarver. I don't count Trinidad as a decent win for obvious reasons.

I have said all along that I think Calzaghe is going to sit on his punches and use his power in this fight because it will be his last and he knows Roy has a fragile Chin.

  yeah man that is true Winkys gloves look massive on fight night. its like an optical illusion because they are the same size as his opponents.

Don't think Roy has a 'fragile' chin, but his legs have deserted him in recent years and HE is more fragile as a result. It's not like he was NEVER hit before Tarver. The punch Tarver hit him with was sweeeeeet, and Johnson hit him on the temple. I don't think he's an Amir Khan-style chinless wonder, but I do think Joe can stop him.

I agree slapping the pads is not great for a fighter and his stops his momentum and doesn't allow him to 'punch through', but Enzo knows what he's doing. He gets his fighters physically fit. They've all got natural builds and don't focus on weights, and it's this that gives them their stamina. Gavin Rees is pitiful in every way, but he managed to take a beating for nearly twelve rounds and kept coming. Enzo breeds heart and will into his fighters, I mean look at Enzo Mac;completely out of it yet wants to go on.

Enzo's no Freddie Roach, but his style is right for his fighters, and it's right for Joe.

    He always does.

I aren't sure why to be honest, but everytime I've seen him train he uses these massive gloves.

It also improves your handspeed on fight night because your body gets used to throwing with the heavier weight. It makes a bigger difference than people may think at first even though it's just a few ounces heavier.

It's to increase his speed and protect his hands. When he puts on smaller gloves he'll fell twice as fast.
