Kelly stated serveral times he wanted to take Calzaghe up on his challange. Did he not even watch the Lockett fight and see what Kelly said after wards? Or did he see what happened to Lockett and just quit watching?

 

Good post. Calzaghe contradicts himself too much for me to take him seriously anymore. First he says Roy is washed up and doesn't want to fight him, then he says Roy is a legend and a good fight. From there, he goes on to say that Pavlik is a good challenge and wants the fight to Pavlik is inexperienced and not worthy.

 

Now after stating in his own autobiography he would never fight Jones because of Jone's losses he CLAIMS Kelly is chickening out? Starting to sound like Palle is his manager. Hopefully this is just pre fight hype.

 

The difference between Lacy and Pavlik is that Lacy was hype. Pavlik is real substance. And I think Calzaghe knows it.

 

I think these are the first stages of the negotiations. Pavlik, it seems, is very keen on the fight. Calzaghe better fight him, if the fight can be made...

 

No way in hell Pavlik is afraid of Joe, nor do I think he would turn the fight down.

Please don't compare Pavs to Lacy, not even close in terms of accomplishments or skill level.

Pavlik beats Joe, just a matter of how.

Does Calzaghe spar with Lockett?
I just wandering if he does and is now put of fighting Pavlik after seeing what pavlik did to his stablemate. Also i'm wandering if Enzo C. has given him any tip's like for example stay the **** away from pavlik to secure your legacy because it seem's very strange to call people out and then back off like this it show's doubt.

 

Just to play devil's advocate here, they could have seen Pavlik and said, "he's no challenge for you Joe go with Jones" but, given Calzaghe's history of fighting low risk fights, that doesnt seem likely does it ?

 

Whats hapenning here is that when Joe was calling out PAvlik and Taylor, Jones was pretty much a non-factor and most people thought he was gonna retire soon after. But now Jones is sort of back in the mix after defeating Tito (although i know decisioning Tito was actually a bad result, most boxing fans don't seem to get that.)

Its disappointing though, if Calzaghe vs Jones comes off and Calzaghe vs Pavlik never does.
