Calzaghe: Pavlik doesn't want to fight me

Well, the longer this BS goes, the more I'm convinced Pavlik would win against JC. Calzaghe has never ducked anyone in his past (but been pushed aside by both Hopkins and Jones instead). But to sound like this isn't his idea, he starts talking about what Pavlik wants like he suddenly become his damn manager. Joe wants a nice tidy convincing win to cap off his career. It is obvious that either (1) he is convince post-Lockett that he will as sloppy as he did against Hopkins or (2) he is convinced he will get KTFO by Kelly. Either way, it's embarrassing for him to start talking like he knows another champion's mind.

 

I'll go one further. Since Kelly has now repeatedly said he would take Ole Joe up on his offer, Ole Joe is now a liar. HE KNOWS PAVLIK WANTS THIS FIGHT. 10 million pounds worth.

Well, if one fighter doesn't want it, you can assume there is a reason. 10 million pounds says it isn't the money here. Cal knows Pavlik wants him "before he is one second older". Now he is trying to give his huggers some cover with this crap.

 

I would like to see Pavlik go on record in the media and request the Calzaghe fight.

Calzaghe has all of the tools to beat him convincingly, but it's all about the $$ now. Roy Jones in Cardiff will make a sweet payday for him.

He said that he would fight anybody after that fight.
I would like to see Pavlik call Calzaghe out specifically and directly.

Again, there is a video on the web where Pavlik, when asked who he wants to fight says without hesitation it is Joe "before he gets one second older". Watch the post fight interview again. Arum has said it was his number one priority to get this fight done. The offered him 10 million pounds.

Comprende? Just because it isn't done in the exact way you want doesn't mean it didn't happen. For Joe to say it is Kelly that doesn't want this fight makes him a liar.

 

Listen mate, we are on both ends of the spectrum here but we both want to the fight to be made and are totally convinced that our respective favourites can win convincingly so don't get all lemon.

I would like to see Kelly chase him down to make the fight inevitable.

Looking at it from Calzaghes's point of view and it is his last fight.
Could you honestly seriously hand on heart blame him for taking the most money on offer?

He has been in the game a long time and has paid his dues regardless of what some moronic naysayers have say.

Fact is he has stepped upto the mark consistently over the last 3 years with the exception of Manfredo...and he is also an old man of 36 himself

 

conflicting things being said about this lately;
first of all calzaghe has stated many times as far back as straight after the kessler fight that he wanted pavlik
Jones said he wanted calzaghe and that was the only fight he wanted but calzaghe went on record saying I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT GUYS PAST THEIR BEST or something to that effect (someone didnt tell him he had just signed to fight hopkins who was 43)
Post hopkins fight calzaghe announces himself a legend killer and wants roy jones
Roy jones talks supposedly break down and pavlik calzaghe looks a dead-cert and frank warren says pavlik wants the fight so THE DECISION IS UP TO JOE
calzaghe puts words in pavliks mouth saying he doesnt want the fight even though pavlik publically stated he did after dismantling calzaghe's stablemate lockett

This to me says two things
a) Joe knows personally that he's declined badly as a fighter and was lucky not to lose to b-hop who many felt did enough to win
b) Joe underestimated pavlik until seeing his more recent fights against taylor (rematch) and lockett (albeit that lockett is limited) which he showed new elements to his fight game

 

The only thing I get from this article is JOE not wanting to fight Pavlik.

 

This isn't pro wrestling. Insisting Pavlik make some sort of formal "call out" doesn't mean anything. Too many fans like this pointless game of calling out, as if that means something.

Joe should not be saying Pavlik doesn't want to fighjt him unless Pavlik SAYS that. Not to mention it just makes this whole Pavlik vs. Joe C possibility pointless when he's talking about Jones.

 

Kelly isn't a trash talker. JC wasn't until Hopkins set him off. Never thought I'd dislike a fighter for his mouth more than Hopkins when he made the 'white boy' comment, but Joe topped that when comparing Hopkins to a dog.

Bottom line is Joe called, Kelly answered. We all know this.

You think Jones will offer considerably more than 10 million pounds?

 

All this "makes sense" crap is EXACTLY what every man and his ****ing dog was saying before Calzaghe v Lacy was made and Calzaghe v Kessler was made. EXACTLY the same.

IF he chooses RJJ instead of Pavlik I will slate him. But right now it is all conjecture and you are all leaping in very hyped, about something you know little about.

 

Calzaghe hasnt got a big mouth for a boxer.

I like Pavlik but find his nouveaux fans incredibly obnoxious.

Let's see how the dust settles and the deal that is made before we jump to our conclusions.
