Calzaghe-Pavlik would be a fight of the decade caliber

You are right here, both will be too good to eat clean punches from the other.

But the number of punches thrown would be very comparable.

Calzaghe has heavy hands?? Good Defense?? Thats all I had to hear :hi:
Pavlik KOs Calzaghe in 10 rounds...and Joe would look silly with his head snapping around... then laying on the canvas a beaten man

If you consider Calzaghe-Lacy a good fight then this would be a good fight. But I don't consider shockingly one-sided fights that good... Calzaghe-Pavlik is definitely not a fight of the decade type of fight... Pavlik's big fight is the Abraham fight or it would be a fight against the prime Tito.

Joe has great defense in the sense that offense is the best form of defense!

As for JC having "heavy hands" well the fact is he does have pop when he chooses to. He does punch within himself quite a bit though to prevent injury. Have a look over his fights and you'll notice that each and every one of his opponents has respect for his power by the end of the first round. Don't get me wrong - I'm not saying he's an extra heavy puncher or something - Pavik for instance is a better banger - but take my word on, it I've been close enough at enough of his fights to hear his punches land, the guy isnt in there tickling people.

I'm not comparing the two fighter’s style... I'm comparing the probable result buddy, and that's a big difference... :thumbsup

It would be a different type of massacre. What most of you guys does not seem to realize how unbelievably good Calzaghe is when his opponent is predictable/has an orthodox style. Even the 2 levels better Kessler couldn't really surprise Joe after a few rounds and the easiest Calzaghe wins came against the most aggressive and/or one-dimensional, predictable fighters like Lacy, Veit etc.

That's why the Hopkins fight will be really tough, because BHop is very unorthodox, awkward fighter like Bika or Salem (of course they are only the same in unpredictability). Pavlik, one of my favorites, and a guy currently on my p4p list would lose the fight via brutal 12 round beating and you, my friend gonna start to make excuses AFTER the beating if you don't see the flaws in Pavlik's game and that Calzaghe is ALL ABOUT punishing predictable, flawed fighters. The big difference is not necessarily in skill level (but there a big difference in that too) but in the style. Pavlik should avoid Calzaghe at all costs as he's gonna have troubles even with Abraham, who’s a different type of nightmare in style for him. And I don’t want to speak about Kessler, because I really don’t want to see Pavlik badly hurt. Of course, Kelly beats the rest, and he beats the rest in a DAMN GOOD MW/SMW, so there’s no shame in losing to great fighters like Calzaghe.

As I've said before in other threads Pavlik and Calzaghe are similar in their volume of punches thrown....The power goes to Pavlik easily, this is hardly debatable with any rationale.....Joe leaves himself open, often...and would be punished and eventually KO'd....Joe doesnt come close to Taylor in the power department either...so Joe won't be hurting Pavlik...Joe's only hope would be to stay on the outside hoping to box his way to a decision...which he wont do....he'll trudge forward throwing wide, short punches, hoping to win on his shear volume of punches which is what he always has done...and it won't work

It wouldnt be fight of the decade... Pavlik just does not have the style to trouble Joe. He'd be made to look very ordinary and then the ahh he was just overrated crap would start all over again.

Having said that, I want to see it. At Wembley. This summer thanks very much.

Well Kelly did in 07 what took Joe 10 years to accomplish
    Beat 2 good fighters
    Unify the division
I know the facts can hurt abit being a Joe fan:roll:
Anyway I don't make excuses buddy...I'm not some of the 8 year olds on here...I own the **** up when I'm wrong....I hope your capable of doing the same as I hope this fight comes off after Joe schools Slopkins...It would be a great fight as Joe does have a solid chin, so it will take a better portion of the fight to soften and then crush

Sorry to break this one to you, but you are wrong.

How many punches did Kelly throw last night? I dunno but it didnt look like a thousand to me.

44 boxers have so far failed to take advantage of Joe "leaving himself open" so far. Doesnt that tell you something?

If you think Joe is a trudger you are mad.

Fancy an avatar bet on it with me if the fight comes off?

Well nobody is wrong yet mate....while we have different visions of how the fight would play out neither is wrong until said presumptions are proven

Byron Mitchell put Joe on the floor, so while the advantage Mitchell had was short lived....it only proves the statement I made that Joe leaves himself open to be correct....And if you think Joe has heavy hands you friend are mad....I welcome this fancy avatar bet with you Mr. Liame:good
