Calzaghe promises 2,000 punches

I doubt we'll see even one punch per round. I wouldn't doubt if his pitter-patter patty-cake ***** slaps land 1/second tough. Not like that's any thing to brag about though.

Exactly. BIG differense between punches thrown and punches landed.
Against Kessler i expect that difference will be significantly higher than Calzaghe is used to.
Calzaghe doesn't take the cautious road in. He WILL get clocked numerous times going in against Kessler's timing and accuracy. I think he'll fold well before Kessler does.

I don't doubt Calzaghe when he says he'll throw lots in that fight - even if 2000 is a bit optimistic:think

But don't expect him to land anything reflecting the output.

I know 1500 punches sounds ridiculous, but the rules of boxing will need to be changed after the tactics Calzaghe uses in this fight

I agree, they should mimic the scoring system of Olympic boxing, where only effective punches that land at the end of the glove are counted, rather than just anything the fioghter decides to throw in hopes of making it look like he is doing something.

Strange you should say 3000, that is the punchrate Calzaghe has been aiming at in training, although only for 90 second rounds

 

Calzaghe knows this is his hardest fight ever. He'll come out fighting like he never has before. I guarantee he'll give everything he's got.
