calzaghe promotions are hosting an event in rhydycar leisure centre in merthyr tydfil 21st feb.08 kerry hope vs taz jones for the light middle weight welsh title. i thought he would of aimed a bit higher than this and started off with a couple of named fighters such as maccarinelli,rees and cleverly. and lured some other names from the states in. i am surprised of how low he has started out. he may never get to a " golden boy" status starting this low down the ladder.
Yeah, but working up to HBO level took like 6 months. There's nothing wrong with Calzaghe Promotions starting low. I doubt Joe is doing it for serious amount of money. He wants to do it as a job he likes after he's retired, so he'll have plenty of time growing big. But he needs to find his Richard Schaefer and Eric Gomez to his team, those two men are the key to GBP's success, because they do something extremely good what Oscar De La Hoya can't.
Golden Boy are doing well because Ross Greenburg pretty much socks on Oscar's **** all day and night. They will approve pretty much anyone for GBP, and stick it on PPV as well.

Hatton's company is the same its hosted a few dinner shows etc. Most those boxers you mentioned, Cleverly, Maccarinelli, Rees etc are contracted to Sports Network/Frank Warren.
