Some of the cynics say that Calzaghe carried Jones the full 12, to make his victory look better than it really was.

He stated before the fight he was concentrating specifically on power punching in training as he was planning to knock china chinned Jones out (there was a thread on it somewhere - with links) - guess he do it couldn't hey.;)

Why can't you just give him credit here?

He knew the fught was in the bag and he clearly slowed down in the last couple of rounds rather than beat Jones to a pulp and worsen that cut.

He showed a lot of respect there.

I am glad he allowed RJJ to finish the fight, because he may have been beat up to a certain extent throughout the fight, but he can go out with his head held high saying he went in with the p4p number 1 (in most people's opinion) and got to the final bell.

No way, he stated he was training to knock Jones out, couldn't do it, then says he let Jones off the hook. Personally I do not believe everything Calzaghe says because he contradicts himself endlessly.

Unlike the majority of people on here I quite like Joe's personality, but I'm not buying lines like this. He was supposed to knock Jones out just as Tarver, and Johnson had done before - he was training specifically to do it - he stated that himself prior to the fight. I have not commentated on here about it, and largely cut him slack for not knocking Jones out - but now he says he didn't do this because he went easy on Jones - he didn't do it because he couldn't.

Calzaghe himself also qualifies why he didn't because there was still a "danger from the right hand". Personally, I'm not saying well done Joe that was nice of you Joe to not risk the danger from Jones right hand - the back slapping on here is too much at times.

Joe was hardly respectful during the fight with his constant mocking, and showboating.

If you want to be really harsh you could say that Calzaghe should have had got a one eyed shot Jones out of there, and asked questions why on earth he was incapable of doing that. Something two good to average fighters did to a shot version of Jones four years earlier.

I'm not saying that but I'm certainly not giving him credit for being made to go the distance with a one eyed shot fighter.

I've given Joe credit for despating of Jones convingly on points - but no way am I giving credit for him failing to knock Jones out!

I wouldn't believe everything a figher says before the fight.

He knows himself his hands are ****ed I don't believe for a minute he honestly 100% thought he would KO Jones, his power just isn't there anymore.

Jones was taking a beating the last few of rounds, Joe could have gone in there and had the ref stop the fight on pure accumulation no doubt about it because by the end he was more or less doing what he wanted.

Was nice to see a legend like Jones go out with a bit of dignity I thought but that's just me.

He could and should have done it. He could have thrown another 100 punches or so in the time he was posing.

Jones was hurt at least once, and looked like he wanted out in a few big Calzaghe rounds. Calzaghe let him off easily and forgot how to finish.

How many head shost worth a toss did he land on Roy?

Seemed to me that he could'nt really penetrate Roys guard much tbh.

His main success was with body shots.

I don't think Calzaghe could KO Roy just like he would'nt KO Winky Wright.

Should have would have could have. Fact of the matter is he didn't. His statement is nothing more than empty rhetoric.
