not hopkins fans but he owned calzaghe's career, not to mention he's not even really beaten by calzaghe. yea hopkins lost to jones while calzaghe beat jones, but hopkins lost to vintage jones while calzaghe beat roy jones that got KTFO by 2 other man already.
lmao, so u have hopkins as an A- fighter, but three fighters he beat as A & A+'s... and then pavlick as a B+ fighter... wtf! and lacy wasnt a C level fighter before calzaghe out done him, he was favourite in their fight remember... so dont throw **** in like hopkins finished trinidad, when your not gonna give Joe credit for finishing lacy...
Dude you are just trolling now, lol. How can Winky be considered a B class win when he hasnt achieved anything at smw or lhw? He is now 0-1 at lhw, how is that a B class win? Johnson is a B class worth a bit less than Calzaghes win over Lacy Pavlik has achieved nothing at lhw so at best he he a B+ class win How is Trinidad an A class win when his best win at that weight is over a fighter you consider to be C Class? Tito went 3-2 at mw, so we can safely say that he wasnt fighting in his prime division, but it is still a good win Oscar was a C class fighter at mw, he really should be 0-2 at mw. I give Calzaghe no credit for beating Jones, but that Jones was better than the Jones Hopkins is now going to fight. Jones lost by 11 rounds to Calzaghe and got wiped out in 54 seconds in his last fight. Im interested in why you havent spoken about Bernards 5 losses?
Lol yeah, he has the Hopkins that Calzaghe beat as an A- fighter and the Tarver that Hopkins beat as an A fighter, despite the fact that Hopkins had dominated Tarver in his previous fight! :rofl
Hopkins resume is obviously better. One thing that Calzaghe has though is a win over Hopkins who despite being old wasnt shot proven by his domination over Kelly Pavlik in his next fight.
Calzaghe should have gone to America and fought a prime hungry fighter. Not scrape a decision against B-Hop which many felt he lost, and then have a fight with a shot Roy Jones Jr.
what the ****... hopkins and calzaghe were both past their primes when they foght, JC was gettin on to ya know! ya cant have people praising hopkins' result against pavlik when in the same breath say joe should have fought someone better... wtf, at the time, hopkins was top 4 or 5 p4p & a weight above JC
Hopkins may have fought the better names but if you look past the names you will see two over size welters that had no business at middle in Oscar and Tito .. Pavlik was way too green imo and that fight was no diffrent than Trinidad beating up on Vargas .. And outside of that he had Tarver Taylor and Jones only beating Tarver long after Tarver saw his best days ..Don't be blinded by names people !
In 03 I beleive Showtime was offering Bhops a 6 fight deal and one of the opponents was to be Calzaghe Hops turned it down don't recall the reason .
This is an argument I really don't understand. Hopkins was by consensus number one at light heavyweight and top five pound for pound when Calzaghe fought him. He was therefore considered the best possible opposition Calzaghe could have fought at that time. Not the best over forty year old opposition, or the best handicapped by age, just the best. Why on earth would it have been better to fight an inferior opponent who happened to be 'in his prime' (whatever that ridiculously overused and misused phrase actually means)?
for real? i was talking about talks in 2001 in which Bhop was offered 3 million pound to fight JC only to come back demanding double that:good
