    Wait what?! JC ducked Taylor?

TAYLOR ASKED FOR 10 MILLION DOLLARS TO FIGHT CALZAGHE.

An amount Calzaghe nor Warren could ever pay in this lifetime or the next.

^^that is only the first offer, they could have negotiated it to 7.5M..i know that taylor is willing to fight in UK and thus asking high pay for the risk..

taylor is having trouble making 160 as evidenced by the rematch with pavlik. they fought in a catch weight. but taylor is always after the big fight thereby he accepted the pavlik fight and it's downfall for him...

taylor still has a fight in him..he can be 175 champ for a long time..

The only thing "bad" about this career is he doesn't have a "defining" fight...You can say Jeff Lacy, but he did not turn out to be the fighter people made him out to be. Calzaghe never had that prime, dominant, Liston/Foreman/Frazier equivalent Muhammad Ali had.

Howard Eastman. It wasn't even a case of 'calling out', the match was made for an eliminator to face Hopkins, Taylor pulled out when Dibella lost the pursebid and Taylor realised he would have to apply for a passport. Hence why Eastman got first shot at Hopkins before Taylor.

As in most cases, this 'never ducks anyone' meme is bollocks. Every boxer that has the option takes or declines fights on a perceived risk/reward basis.

You don't really expect to put Miranda in that list and be taken seriously, do you?

It's not ducking when a fight is agreed then one fighter pulls out of an agreed fight when he doesn't get the location he wants? Even at the cost of foregoing a chance at a shot at an undisputed world champion? :nut:lol:

So what exactly does count in your little world?! Has it ever actually happened? Give us some examples...

Joe ought to give his best regards to the WBO for allowing him to fight "no hopers" the majority of the time in his nice safe home backyard.
He is the the ultimate poster boy for paying the sanction fee and fight who ever you want.:dead

Because there were just tonnes of contenders floating around at 168 during that time that Calzaghe didn't fight?

    Such as...

You don't seem very bright. Who said Eastman was undisputed champion? Hopkins was the undisputed champion and the fight was to be WBC mandatory contender to Hopkins. If Dibella didn't think Taylor was ready to fight Hopkins, why did he fight him five months after Eastman did? Did he suddenly become ready between February and July? Why did Dibella make an offer to Mick Hennessy to stage the Eastman fight in the US and only pull out when it became apparant Hennessy had the financial ability to take it to the US? You clearly have no grasp of the facts and thus end up looking like a clueless twat.

Meanwhile, we're still waiting for a definition of 'ducking' from you. You used the word, what's the point if it doesn't mean anything? What does it mean? And if lining up a fight and then pulling out because you don't like the location, even at possible detriment to your own progress, doesn't meet the definition then what does? Please give examples.

Many of you fans here are young, and weren't watching boxing then. I can't respond to all of this lunacy. i'm glad you guys joined the sport as a fan though lol... To say Cal didn't want any of the big fights insults all champions. You act as if you are talking abiout Joey Gamache lol...

He should've pushed for a unification with Ottke. Up until Ottke retired his reign was actually better than Calzaghe's.

Moving up to beat DM would've been hugely impressive & embarrassing to Jones.

I wish he had Froch's approach. Win the title go after the best straight away. His resume could have been so much better.

I'd argue that he's not in the top 5 British fighters of all time.
