This is woeful from you. You think it "kills" anyone that Calzaghe slapped around the bloodied corpse of Roy Jones, years after Tarver and Johnson proved Jones would be knocked out of contention against any decent lhw? The only thing that fight killed was Calzaghe's integrity in the eyes of many.

I'm not mad at all. I like Joe...I think he was great and offered a lot to the sport. I just have a realistic view of his career and legacy. For a GREAT boxer like him with the talent he has his best wins shouldn't have been over a 44 yr old Nard and a fairly shot Roy Jones Jr. He's better than that, unfortunately he never really got the desire to PROVE or CHALLENGE himself during his PRIME years. Kessler may have been his BEST fight in terms of a champ in their prime and while Joe did dominate for the most part, kessler is a lesser fighter in every area and he did very well. I wish Joe's resume matched his Talent, skill and greatness....however that is not the case. I'll miss him as a boxer but more importantly I think we all MISSED the best of Joe C.

    YES.

I 100% convinced that A LOT of people that dont like Calzaghe would like nothing more than to see him beat & are `not too thrilled` at his retirement.

When I dont like a fighter, I cheer when they lose & dont exactly do cart wheels when they win, its human nature.

Some get mildly annoyed, some get annoyed, some get angry & some blow their top - that qualifies as `kills them` in my eyes.... nothing to worry about, its human nature.

You can feel the anger & disappointment in their posts but its all good fun.

    :yep

Im not saying they were prime, Im just saying it kills some posters that Joe holds a victory over both & Im right, it does.

Ps. Joe doesnt deserve a vast amount of credit for beating RJJ but any non-biased fan must give him full credit for beating a still very good Hopkins, tho like Joe, not in his prime.

I only got it 2 mins ago, nice eh ?
    My 1st ever non-boxing avater.

Ps. We`re probably best to agree to disagree were Calzaghe is concerned, he seems to be the only guy we cant accept the others decision on, it happens, thats why we are on here I suppose.

    :thumbsup

You're wrong, the "haters" are happy to see him go. And so are his fans.

Nobody wants him to stick around. His fans are like people cheering a con man that just pulled of the scam of the century and is now getting away clean.

Nobodies going to remember who he was 10 years from now.

Yes the thought of them throwing a can of Bud at the tv or kicking the cat as JC notched up another victory always made me smile. :D

I didn't exactly hate him before the Kessler fight (but was definitely rooting against him! :yep), it certainly helped endear him to me though. And watching his earlier career since I can appreciate his legacy and don't think there are any holes that can't be chalked up to "how the biz goes". :good

Dawson is just another over rated american chump that could not carry Calzaghe's spit bucket.
