Hop and Jones will be remembered as two of the greatest fighters ever. Joe would be lucky to be remembered same way outside of Europe. Dont go hating cause no one respects Joe the way you do.
You really don't get that I'm making fun of you? You thought I was actually denigrating Sanchez, Villa and Tyson's careers rather than illustrating the banality of your point? I mean, I know sarcasm isn't supposed to carry well on the internet, but damn...wake up! If you want to say "Calzaghe had a great Euro career and nothing more" then it's just as valid to say "Tyson had a great North American career and nothing more", "Sanchez had a great Mexican career and nothing more", or "Villa had a great Asian career and nothing more". It's not to say that Joe had a better resume as any of those guys, nor as good...the point is all four are ridiculous troll-baiting statements and not to be taken seriously.
Yep, your a moron alright. Roy fought and beat everyone he faced when he was in his prime. He didnt just stick to american fighters. He beat other good fighters from over seas. Sorry I cant say the same for Joe until he beat shot fighters in Hop and Roy. More so Roy then Hop cause I least Hop had another good win in Pavlik. But the point is that Joe never ventured out of the U.K just like you say of Roy and Hop not fighting out of the U.S.
I cant take you serious if you think real highly of Joe. I mean I just cant. I want to, but you hold no water in your arguement. Tyson beat all champs that were in the HW division to claim his undisputed crown. Sanchez beat great fighters like Nelson and Gomez. I look at Joe's resume and i want to find a find a big credible name to make an argement for him but I cant find one until I reach Kessler and past thier prime Hop and Roy. See where I'm getting at here. Its not about Joe being a Euro fighter, its about his Euro filled resume that I call into question.
Calzaghe had only just won British title when Jones was SMW champ. Why didn't Jones call out BENN who had just trajically beaten McClellan???? After all they were BOTH SMW champs at the time:think:think
I was hoping he'd take on glen Johnson, that would have been close...I would bet Joe, but a very tough battle:-(
There have been 4415 professional fighters in the division (compare with 4248 Cruiserweights). Being a clear top five, if not top three, if not #1 out of 4415 fighters (regardless of how long it's been around compared to the original ones) isn't worth anything?
I'm filled with sadness that one of the finest fighters of this generation, the greatest SMW of all time and a top 10 ATG British fighter has announced his retirement....but at the same time, remain confident that like another British great in Lennox Lewis, his standing will appreciate with time. Thanks for the memories Joe! Hopefully that knighthood will come your way soon!
That division didnt even come into his own upto a few years ago. So what if joe is the best of that division. I could say the same **** for Ricardo Lopez being the best of his division when he retired undefeated but that dont say much about the fighters of his division does it? Its not like the SMW division is one of the best ever. Its only been around for 20 years or so and Joe has been a champ for ten. Thats says something.
Bow down to the greatest SMW of all time, one of the top 10 British fighters of all time and the man that American hype jobs and legends alike could not defeat....the great Joe Calzaghe :good ARISE SIR JOE! :happy
